  • Prepping the Fields

The regular quartet of Brogiis arrived early for some pre Doozy Beatdown Broga. Conditions were cooler then expected but the air was crisp and clean. Hips and Hamstrings were the focus of the day with a quick blend of shoulders. Some light maintenance was needed on the damp courts of No Toll, so YHC arrived early with blower in tow to ensure the conditions were primo and no slippage occurred. All good with muscles feeling good to start the day. Thank you all for joining me on the cooler than normal day.

Off the Books Kettlebell scheduled for Sunday. See Chaplain for deets.

  • Saab’s weaving booties

16 west end giants braved the last cool day of spring to get a run in.

Saab said the Q can call this route anything he wants, so YHC presents “Saab’s weaving booties”. Why booties? We dont know. We do know Saab prefers weaving to knitting.

    This is the route:

4s – Batcave, across parking lot to Westham Station, S Ridge Road, L on River, Right on Ralston, cut across the pool lot, Right on Holmes, cross Forest to Sunrise, across Westham to University and back to start.

5s – From Ralston, turn left on University, bend to Ziontown, Right on Ridge, cross the parking lot to Lindsey, right on Westham, left on Lakewood and back to campus.

6s – from Lindsey, Left on Westham Parkway, Right on Waveney, Right on Wood and back to campus

3s – Run / Walk around campus perimeter and through Westhampton. 15 min warmup walk, 1 min run + 1 min walk x6, cooldown 14 min.

YHC took us out. Prayers for Lab Rat, Try Hard, and Handshake.

Announcements – Sign up for breaking bread. Gomer FOB virtual benefit 4/29 8p – extra tickets available. Blood drive 4 June Epiphany Lutheran Church – need donors.

NMS – Fun to be back at Spider Run and walk by YHCs old residence halls. Campus has changed in many ways since way back when.

    Get some!

  • Don’t pack up those cold weather gloves just yet

Seven HBR regulars were unsure when to start since we were missing our HS arrival +30 seconds timer to launch at 5:30. Luckily the Q had his watch so off we went:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Reverse Crunches, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey over to covered side. Grab a pole and do Boxing Cockroaches, man on end does 5 squats then to the end. Repeato all the way to end of poles. Way back same premise but do Stripper Poles & man on end do 5 Merkins then move up. Mosey over to front of PES for Triple check: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, run loop.

Head over to pull-up zone. 4 rounds of 8 Pull-ups & WWIIs. Then over to basketball court: Lunge between hoops & 6 Hand Release Merkins at each hoop. Finish with 4 rounds of 40 Benchkicks and 15 Squats then back to flag.

Announcements: 6/4 Blood Drive – See Slack/Pigskin for more info.

NMS: Quiet group this morning without Handshake to ask inapproriate questions to stir the mumblechatter pot. Stripper Poles were a hit and were definitely Offshore’s kind of thing. YHC should have veto’ed the pairings in the Triple check since the Pinto/Offshore/Lighthouse pairing against the Atilla/Bacon Bits/YHC/Pigskin made for some lopsided loops. YHC tried to keep the pax relatively dry and stay off the grass. Hopefully the sub 40 degree temps in the Gloom are behind us soon.

  • Runday

Posted for a run day with men of Carterico. No warm up straight to run. Was doing my long pre 10K run so targeted 5 miles. Did not make it back for COT.

  • They have a Cooter, We have a Rosco

YHC posted at Boonedocks with the men of Carterico. Normal warmarama. Workout was: Run .3 miles 9 Burpees, 20 Hand release merkins, 22 Flutter kicks repeato 4 times. Parking lot bear crawls with drydocks mixed in. Finished out with Mary.

  • The stars are always brighter after a good rain

9 Star gazers made their way out of the rain soaked gloom to find what they thought would be wet soccer fields.

Mosey to the tennis courts: COP (pay toll along the way 20 Dips, 20 Derkins)

DQ’s run a lap, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers

Mosey out to the main parking lot to find 12 frisbees with lights on them set up in a big circle and a bucket in the middle. Start in the middle at the bucket and run to one of the stars and do 25 of the exercise on the frisbee, run back to the bucket do 5 burpees and move on to the next star until you’ve done all the stars.

Mosey to the first corner, hit all four corners with 10 of those exercises, chris cross do those exercises with burpees at the bucket. We missed 2 exercises, Ball Dippers and Hand Release Merkins and Last Call wanted to do Arm circles so as the PAX went back and forth for the last 2 stars we did Arm circles forward and backwards and last but not least 5 more burpees

Mosey BTTF pay more tolls (Taxation without representation) this is a Dictatorship and YHC got to be the Dic today.

At the flag get in your best Lazy Boy position and recline

Numbers / Names Chaplain took us out

    NMS:

Stars was really supposed to be Clocks and the 12 frisbees where supposed to be the numbers but the fields at No Toll really retain water and it was only 36 degrees this morning (or as we like to call it 70 and sunny) so clocks was moved to the parking lot and renamed stars. Snuff and Last Call where thinking about all the burpees we did and tried to add them all up afterwards, if my math is correct we should have done right around 75 burpees this morning.

  • Happy that they have found their fun – truly

2 Warriors meet in the gloom for a Monday morning Daville to remind everyone else what respect can be all about.  According to the couple walking laps in the back parking lot with way too much seemingly lively and boisterous discussion to be married (to each other), here is how it went down:

Its amazing how sound carries 150m in the morning gloom and the kinds of things discerning adults will share.  You probably had to be there.

Missed seeing the rest of the  davilians!  Did the GridIron BB scare off the PAX?  They might want to get some more than others what to get some. 😉  Til next time when we will flip the truck tires.

    Get some!

  • Riverdowns River Run

Two grizzled vets gathered in the gloom at the home of the Bettie Weaver Fighting Bluebirds to see what the morning held, and here’s how it went down:

    THE THANG :
YHC grabs a rock then set out on an indigenous run throughout the hood stopping at various intersections to perform PT. The PAX in front is always carrying the rock during the run until the PAX in back takes it. Repeato until time expires.

Thank you to all of you helping YHC carry my burdens, although much lighter than most. My family and the 3 F’s are what gets me through each day. Love y’all
