    MOLESKIN

YHC received a text from UpChuck last evening to let him know he’d likely need to modify due to his ongoing injuries.  Not to worry YHC hadn’t planned to hit the upper body and legs too hard.  Wait, nevermind, sorry Pal.  Today’s version of 11s was truly awful, expect to see it again.  Bodos is really good at smashing things, not so good at counting beyond 100.  Apparently, Pigskin’s headlamp produces 1,000,000 candlepower.  Who knew that was a thing?  As always, thanks for following YHC’s lead.

  • Easy like [Mon]day morning …

A post-Sunday Funday yoga mishap left YHC with a gimpy lower back, right about where the tramp stamp would go. Instead of making things worse with a trip up Twin Team hill, YHC decided to head to the Swamp for some active-recovery laps around the track.

    Make it a great one!

  • Let’s Talk Hernias

5 men plus two pooches launched on three routes. Conditions remained seasonally exceptional at 70 and sunny. According to Walter, the following happened:

Route: Bridge, Buttermilk, bridge, North Bank (Pigskin does a 4 mile out and back; YHC and Walter do a 25 minute out and 25 minute back):

    Results:

Walter started out in the lead.

Walter was passed by Doublemint, then Pigskin and Rip Cord.

Walter was passed by Sally and Offshore.

    Walter was passed by Helix.

    Walter passed Offshore and Sally.

Walter was passed by Offshore and Sally.

Walter reached the midpoint of the Nickel Bridge.

(1.5 miles of walking and 23 minutes later…)

Walter watched Pigskin returning. Walter turned around. Pigskin passed Walter.

    Walter returned BTTVSF.

    Pigskin was gone.

Walter counted to 2. YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

Rip Cord is expecting to add 2 live humans to his crew on Friday. Best wishes to him and his family on a safe and easy delivery. As is our tradition, F3RVA treats all PAX members and their families as though they are our family. And, we name everyone. So, whoever has the Q on Saturday will name the two new children. Apparently, Mrs. Rip Cord is fine with this, though the grandparents may feel slighted.

    NMS:

Nice, crisp morning for a run / jog / walk. YHC was glad to get outside and work the heartbeat up to 80 BPM while walking. Walter thinks the trails are the best.

Doublemint and Pigskin chatted about hernias.

  • 2.0 Wisdom

YHC and Spit volunteered to take the Q as Bulkhead was under the weather for this morning’s workout. 19 showed up for this anticipated beatdown so we had some work to do to make this one worthy of a fine F3RVA Marine brother. So here is what went down:

    COP

We mosey from the flag to the first crop circle next to the amphitheater one lap then form a circle for the following warm up exercises:

    20 SSH, 10 DQ, 10 4ct helicopters, 15 arm circles (10 small and 5 big), reverso, 25 4 ct American Hammers, 20 4 ct flutter kicks, 10 4 ct LBC’s, 10 scorpions, 30 merkins.

    THANG

We mosey to a CB favorite Rugby Road-Pump house drive triangle. We form groups of 3 for a triple check. Partner 1(p1) runs from crop circle to Rugby Road, down rugby Road to intersection of Pump house road. Perform 5 burpees (for Bulkhead), then dealers choice up the hill (Bernie Saunders, Karaoke, run etc…) This is the timer. P2-Lunges alternating each leg, P3-Dealers choice on Abs (LBC’s, American Hammers, Flutter kicks, WW2 sit ups, etc). We rotate, P1 – lunges, P2 – Abs complex, P3 – Runs lap with 5 Burpees at bottom of hill, and Dealers choice up the hill. For the 3rd rotation P1- Abs Complex, P2 – Runs lap, P3 – Lunges. This is 1 complete rotation, we perform 2 more rotations for a triple check.

Hand off to Spit. We mosey to top of love hill by Amphitheater, Partner up for catch me if you can. P1 Bernie Saunders down the hill, P2 performs 25 merkins then runs to P1 to switch. We flapjack until we reach the bottom of the hill. Next we have to go back up the hill and for this effort, P1 runs to the bushes at midpoint up of hill returns with P2 – performs broad jump burpees up the hill they switch, P2 runs and P1 Broad jump burpees. Next P1 Runs to corner, P2 Walking lunges, switch then Final P1 Polar Bear, and P2 runs, switch. We still have distance to mosey up the hill so we continue with this rotation until we reach the corner. We have about 3 minutes left to mosey to flag from this point and the PAX arrive at the flag with no time to spare…right at 60 min.

    COT

Numberama, Namerama and Hardywood took us out in prayer with a special story.

    We have the following announcements:

Look for Gypsy to turn in your shoes for donation.

YHC is working on a pre-blast for Ramp build with Project Homes as many were interested in participating.

We welcome Ryan Clore (Durden … from Fight Club) who moved from Spruce Pine, NC and was active in F3 there.

Good luck to the F3RVA pax participating in the Bear Creek 10 Mile trail run this weekend.

    Moleskin

So YHC had Hardwood take us out in prayer and he was moved by seeing so many F3 brothers that he had not seen in awhile that he wanted to tell a story about his 2.0 daughter who had come back from a recent camp. So while riding back Hardywood asked her: “How was the camping trip? ” She replied by telling a story about how the counselor going around to each child when looking at a glass filled to the midpoint. The counselor asked was the glass half full or half empty? So Hardywood anticipating his 2.0 to reply that she saw it as half full. He was surprised to hear his 2.0 state that the counselor was asking the wrong question. It should be: “How is your glass filled?” It could be from doing a nice thing for someone, being thankful or someone doing something nice for her. Hardywood had stated also that he had been on fumes personally lately and needed to post for a recharge. Well any F3 brother that has posted with Hardywood would tell you that you feel pumped and ready to rock a beatdown with him around. Glad you posted this morning and filling our cups with your energy, 2.0 story and prayer…we are off to a great weekend! Humbled and honored to Lead you gents this morning, your fellow Davillians Spit and Corned Beef. Cheers, Peace and God Bless.

  • The Swa-Goose

5 men arose earlier than necessary in order to better themselves, enjoy some 2nd F, and procure a tasty biscuit. According to the the other runners, this is how it went down.

Run to Dogpile. With much input from the PAX who know the area better than YHC. Ran around the lakes/ponds. Only took 17 minutes so we did a loop around the circle.

Post-beat down, we ran back in a more direct route to the biscuit shop.

Numbers. Names. Hutton took us out.

    NMM

A blessing to spend time with you fine gentlemen. Take care of yourself. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Also, if you are interested in birding, be sure to talk to Bodos.

  • Ultimate light pole alley

YHC is very late on posting this correspondence and may have failed to remember all details correctly.

COP. Warm up of various exercises.
the thang: start at pole 1 running to next light pole adding multiples of 10 of called exercise by the pax until we reached pole 10 and 100 exercises. Reverso with a true light pole alley to count it back down.

YHC took us out in prayer.

  • Delivery Time

YHC was enthused to see Beaker coming off the sideline to WO this AM. Then I saw the Ichigan sweatshirt and wished I had not encouraged him last night to post. Nonetheless 7 posted for a Friday beat down.

COP: 20 SSH’s; 10 Each: DQ’s, Helicopters, Cherry pickers, Imperial Walkers, Russian Soldiers, Flutter kicks, Merkins, Dollies, Jazzercise, LBC’s.

The Thang: Run to every other mailbox and perform called exercises changing exercises on turns. Exercises were 20 Merkinsx4, 25 adding 5 on each straight away. Reached 50 and 2.5 miles.

  • Shooting Stars and Tacky Lights

YHC did not sign up to Q, but YHC made a suggestion on a possible route and that turned into the Q… Someone said flat, someone said it’s December, and YHC did a quick math equation and spit out the answer. The answer was run down Monument because it is flat and look at the Christmas lights because it’s December. YHC believes it was Wedding Singer that said the route looks like the big dipper with everyone coming back down Grove after heading out down Monument. Pun intended, because the stars aligned and as YHC and Handshake were heading down one part of the dipper YHC glanced up and saw YHC’s first EVER shooting star. Never in YHC’s 37 years on God’s great earth had YHC seen a shooting star, it was impressive.

Mileage ranged from a few miles this morning on up to 10 miles. You will have to guess who did 10 and who did the few miles.

It was good time to catch up with Handshake on the run, and then at the end for the final stretch pretty much the entire PAX reconvened for the last bit or running, even Saab! YHC did a victory lap with Saab and proceeded to bring up all the episodes that YHC had listened to of the dormant F3RVA podcast which Saab was a host of.

It was a good morning, and was nice to be back running with everyone.

Names, Numbers, and Announcements. With such excitement YHC even counted twice.

Handshake took us out, prayers for Evan and those who know him and for the upcoming PAX with 2.0s. Other 2.0 news, YHC’s twin brother Rip Cord who has been a bit absent relayed a message to YHC that his M is due with twins next week. So please keep Rip Cord in your prayers he’s going to need it!
