  • Exploring Other holidays, sort of.

19 PAX showed up for the last Gridiron before Christmas. Fireman Ed decided that as important as Christmas is, we need to remember there are other holidays celebrated around the same time period. So he decided to honor Channukah and Kwanzaa this morning.

COP: DQs, invisible jump ropes, helicopters, HRMs, MCs, FMs, Heels to heaven, ACs. Mosey to Stryker field.

Channukah/Hannukah Beast: Instead of a beast with 6 sets of 6, we get the joy of 8 sets of 8. Set 1 (confusion happened due to Ed having all 8 sets occuring in one direction instead of 4 up and 4 back). This set was merkins. Set 2 (jump squats), Set 3 (WWIIs), Set 4 – HRMs – this was hard especially after Handshake my form was not great. I stopped here but 8 nights are just too crazy for me.

Kwanzaa Korners: Kwanzaa is a 7 day holiday so instead of 4 corners we shall do 7 corners. I did have them zig zag some so we could create 7 corners. This consisted of 10 burpees, 20 WW1s, 30 2 count mountain climbers, 40 carolina dry docks, 50 squats, 60 SSHs and 70 LBCs.

Back to Christmas: Each PAX chooses their favorite exercise for 12 reps. Props to Gomer for milking some time with a 12 count shazam. Props to those PAX for did their exercises in cadence vs. OYO. PAX did a good job mixing it up with abs and arms.

Finished with a set of 25 PLTs.

My apologies for somewhat bastardizing two good holiday celebrations but I am trying to be inclusive.

Announcements: Pinto party this afternoon at his house. Reach out to him for details. Wood chopping at Blue Moon’s house today. Bridge next Saturday; contact Kubota for details. My remission party at my house next Saturday 12/27. Convergence on 1/1 at 7 a.m. at Dogpile.

Prayers for Fudd’s sister Mary, Handshake’s niece Charlotte, Gypsy’s stepfather Kelly, my finishing my cancer pills this morning and those who lost someone over the last year. Go Dukes (although I can’t see them beating the Ducks). Coffeeteria had a special adult beverage element (thanks J’ville). Thanks for letting me lead.

  • It was supposed to be raining

4 runners and 4 walkers gathered at MM. It was 60 degrees! It rained right before and right after, but the 45 minutes of the workout were dry.

The workout. The course was the second try at the Windsor Farms cul-de-sac run. 5 milers take the Long, Stockton, Clovelly/Lynton, St. David’s, and Marston out and backs. 6 milers add the Lock Lane cul-de-sac. Both take Queen Charlotte back to Cary and Grove. The walkers did their thing. YHC took us out.

    Moleskin. Random thoughts:

YHC picked the route to check out holiday lights, but the show was underwhelming–perhaps the miserly Windsor farms folks turn them off early. Marv and YHC did note the beach-ball sized ornaments hanging over the road on Lock. They are spread over multiple blocks. It is certainly worth a daytime trip over.

Marv’s $10 weather app is proving to be a good annual value. We reminisced about the early days of RAMM and the major decision to add new routes to our repertoire.

The 5 milers got lost in Windsor Farms. I’m not sure if they found Marcel Marceau.

Bleeder was complaining that he could have biked this morning instead of walking. I guess RAMM Gears doesn’t happen in the rain? Hmm.

  • Wet but warm

individual run up satan’s hill while other members pick strength exercise with Cindys’

    Ended with COT

  • There’s A Lot that Went On This Gloom!

I should preface this post with a heads up to the NK PAX. Choo Choo may or may not be getting a phone call or email from the high school principal in the near future determining further use of their property as an F3 AO…the gate was open, I couldn’t resist!

F3 Warmarama – In the pattern of F3 -perform 3 sets of 10 Imperial Squats and 10 Navy Seal Merkins through the parking lot.

Mosey over by the that nice track we’re not supposed to use (it’s a nice track!) Behold! A gate left wide open! Beaver entered and moseyed up the ramp to the bleachers and did a full round of stairs while entertaining the thought of running a lap on that beautiful new track, YHC gave in to the temptation in need of completing the stair climbs on visitor bleachers. Finish up the remainder of the track and get out of there! Not a single minute later a small white vehicle pulled right up to the gate as I I stopped to take a breather at the end of the parking lot, I thought it best to continue moseying BTTF allowing for any confrontation to take place, however, that did not happen.

Once back to the main road a Sheriffs Deputy was creeping by slowly from behind to witness an approach to box jump the Jr High Stairs and perform 5 beautiful full form burpees at the top.

I was on close watch now, Mosey around the front of the jr high, 5 dips at every bench out front. Continue moseying eastbound bear crawling from speed bump to speed bump and doing a jump squat at every “No Parking” sign along the way. Here comes another car from the far end of the high school parking lot…Mosey up the middle road toward the round about and perform 10 second wall sits around 4 posts, MoT is broad jumps between posts. Mosey over to the main entrance and perform 50 incline merkins. Work my way over behind the flag wall for 10 slow hands to the ground wall climbs. 20 WWII. 20 LBC’s, 20 Penguins, 20 Freddie Mercury. Recover and mosey to the bus lot (there’s that sheriff deputy again, watching me from the high school student parking lot, completely unrelated I almost crapped my pants in this moment as well. Never trust a fart!) perform 5 Bulgarians at every bench and mosey my way back up the road to the flag! Make a clean escape for home base!

    Don’t leave your gates open!

  • I was told there would be coffee!!!!!

4 Regulars, 1 second post and an FNG but NO Last Call which at Twin Team means no coffee.

5:30 its wet outside but not raining mosey, mosey, mosey to the side cover at JRHS for the COP. PAX was taken here to stay dry but Orange Crush said that was sissy or something like that.

First event, partner up for a touch a light post. Partner 1 runs to 2 light post while partner 2 does dips, second round is 2 different lights and Incline merkins, third round is 2 different lights and step ups

To this point still very loungey mosey to the JRHS track

Four corners on the track first lap is abs – 20 at each stop Scrunchy frogs, American Hammers, LBC’s and something else. Second lap legs – Squats, Walking Lunges, Ball Dippers and Calf Raises. Third Lap Arms/Chest – Merkins, Wide Grip Merkins, Shoulder Taps And Chuck Norris (10) with Diamond (10)

BTTF for an Ab ring of fire

Numbers / Names YHC took us out

NMS: Welcome back to Rousey for his second post and welcome to Dig Dug who came with Rousey. Don’t let the name fool you Dig Dug is a mine engineer and not as old as his namesake although he did say he played Dig Dug one time at his Grandmothers house.

  • Permanent LED Holiday Lighting is Everywhere!

Two runners an two ruckers posted in Rutland on this perfect Thursday morning to start the day right.

One rucker left to meet another who would join him. They walked around the Rutland area it appeared for likely somewhere close to 2 miles.

The runners ran to Giles and back doing the Bojangles loop on the return for 5.2 miles.

COT: Numberarama, Name-O-Rama, Announcements, BAM! took us out.

    NMS:

Great to run with BAM! again. While we were running, YHC noticed that there were Permanent LED Holiday Lighting all over the place. Before this year, he did not remember seeing them before. Pretty cool addition for the holiday season.

    Gotta Run!

    Phonics

  • Land of 1,000 Yards

2 Q-destrians emerged for an OTB in the heart of New Kent for more running than the usual man would like to sign himself up for.

Warmarama in the parking lot OYO with some mumble chatter.

    Choo Choo take the wheel!

4 Corners (Revolver Style?) around a huge bus parking. After a set run 1 1/4 lap to next corner for following exercise

    • 10 Burpees
    • 20 Merkins
    • 30 Bulgarian Squat
    • 40 WWII

Mosey to the round about and flags for Beavers Dora – Timer runs lap around the round about.

    • 75 Box Jumps
    • 150 Decline Merkins
    • 300 Mountain Climbers

Mosey back to the stairs for some sets of calf raises.

  • All I want for Christmas…

Enjoying the break from the freezing temps, 3 HIM opted for an evening beatdown at The Crossing. With the soft sound of holiday music playing in the background, here’s what went down.

Mosey around the upper parking lot and circle up for several exercises OYO and a few in cadence.

Mosey to the lower parking lot for a variation of 4 corners which included 50 hand release merkins, 75 monkey humpers, 100 Mt. climbers, and 125 flutter kicks, After completing each exercise we returned to each corner for 3 burpees for a total of 48 burpees.

Mosey around the perimeter of the church making a stop for 1 minute of LBC and 1 minute of The Opus.

Finished up with a triple check with merkins, WWII’s and the runner running the length of the parking lot.

    BTTF/Name/Numbers/ YHC took us out.

The holidays can impact us all in very different ways. Prayers for wisdom when navigating through this time of year.

    Thanks for letting me lead

  • Mystery B 2025: Pop Lock and Drop It??

It was a festive atmosphere at The FORGE as Mystery Box made it’s annual holiday appearance. We had 9 strong ready to put in some work while enjoying some amazing music . Here is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

Mosey to the abandoned school for warm-up: Jazzercise, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, BOC’s, and we are good. To the customary back of the school location for the main event:
One PAX pulls an exercise out of the box then grabs the medicine ball and runs to the top of the hill and back. The remainder complete that exercise for the duration:

    Burpees
    Crawl Bear
    WWII Sit-ups
    Crunchy Frogs
    Murder Bunnies
    American Hammers
    Broad Jump Burpees
    Hello Dollies
    Sprints with 10 seconds rest
    V-ups
    Smurf Jacks
    Shoulder Taps

Back to the flag – finished off with a minute or so of ab exercises.

COT and YHC took us out

Final Thoughts: We had some tough pulls this morning! L Woods was falsely accused of making up challenging exercises. Overall, I think we got a well rounded beatdown. Lots of great holiday themed workouts to check out this week and next…………..Look for a Mystery Box return sometime next year!
