  • National Lampoons European Currahee Route

With no official Q, YHC stepped up with a simple-ish route. Here’s where it went:

    The Route

    • Head out Maremont behind Godwin
    • R on Raintree
    • L into Raintree Swim and Racquet Club
    • Loop around the lake
    • Continue on Raintree until the 23rd minute
    • Reverso
    • Back to SF

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Gomer requested that the route be given a name.  Somehow half the Pax missed the exit path off the Lake loop and went around twice.  Hey look kids, there’s Big Ben, Parliament!

10 guys and one dog ran today. We did the Handshake Figure 8. North on Pump, left on Pump and either go all the way to Broad Street hang a right then hang a right on John Rolfe Parkway and then merge back onto Pump back to Godwin -OR- North on Pump, Left on Pump and then turn Right into Short Pump Park and then hang a right on John Rolfe Parkway south and merge back onto Pump back to Godwin. Miles were run.

Announcements – Shoe Drive until December 18th. Honeydo’s “One Hit Wonders” workout at Dogpile on Christmas Eve, something else?

Prayer Requests – Hutton’s friends 15 year old Son was buried today. Prayers for him and their family. Prayers for those in need of Mental Health.

NMS – not too much going on today. YHC, Lulu (dog), Hutton, and Roger Roger ran today, The Fast Crew ran fast, and Pigskin walked while he continues to recover.

  • Standardish Currahee

Eight men took on the mean streets of the West End heading from Godwin up Pump toward Pocahontas Middle. Some Looped back, some cut through Short Pump Park. Lulu found no four legged friends.

  • Bla-brocode-ck Friday

Five of the best from the far west end met to work off some of yesterday’s overeating. EF Hutton and Pigskin did a walk with 200 merkins (made 10 stops with 20 at each) while Lighthouse, Johnsonville and Whitesnake did the regular brocode route (Pump to Church to Copperass to Ridgefield to Pump). Whitesnake and Lighthouse joined Hutton and Pigskin for the final 40 merkins while Johnsonville ended up 25 pounds lighter after his run.

Pigskin took us out. Good luck to Johnsonville and other on the loops today!

  • Great day to be a duck

    What rain??

Put a hat on and let’s go.

    2 routes today.

Gypsy 4 mile taper run and Gomers 5 miles (that went 6). Lots of great conversations and fellowship. Not to mention the 2nd F at Dunkin afterwards with most the pax.

Mubblechatter is always great at running AOs.. but you gotta show to know.

Lots of 2nd F and 3rd F events coming up. Check Slack for full details

    SYITG!!

  • We have to go back

Ten beautiful men tried to recreate Honeydo and Whitesnake’s Lost route from a couple months back. Most were scared off by the smoke monster and did Prescott/Ridgefield into the Rolfield subdivision to John Rolfe and then took Gayton all the way to Pump and then back to Godwin. Blue Moon and I ventured into the Gayton Glen subdivision off John Rolfe (the scene of the crime), left onto Timberly Waye, right on Ryandale down to the Steward School and then left on Gayton, left on Pump. We avoided any hostiles & polar bears and survived. 4-5.1 miles were run depending on the route. I think all ten made it back . . .

  • October Brocode

Eight was enough for another end of month Brocode. Traditional route this morning: North on Pump, left on Church to left Copperas, left on Ridgefield back to Pump and then home.

Lighthouse and I forgot about the turning back for the six until we were midway on Church but from that point forward the full group did as we were supposed to.

    Announcements: Beer Mile this Saturday

  • Lighthouse has your macro economic analysis

Seven svelte stallions met up for perfect running weather.

YHC planned on the DRP / Brookmont route, aka the park route. This route is a little over 5mi and the PAX rocked it. (6 is easy to get to with a few loop extensions easily seen below.

4s mostly ran into the park and then back out along Ridgefield.

No fauna sightings on this route. The DRP back parking lot is still under construction.

This is a blow up of the park. Just stay to the right til you get to the back parking log.

YHC took us out. Prayers for Tippecanoe and some weird dental issue he is experiencing while away at uni at the moment.

NMS – Usual amount of mumble chatter with some extras coaxed by Mr Rogers – who always asks good questions. I learned that Lighthouse is ready to talk about economic structures and macro policy drivers – you just need to get him running a training pace to hear it. Whitesnake likes to talk and run too. YHC doesnt talk while training and the hills were at the edge of fitness level today.

YHC was glad to be able to log this one at 9 min miles. Its been a long time getting healthy. Achilles was whispering but feeling good post race.

  • SPEED for Need

The Speed For Need made its debut at Currahee this past Friday. A quick safety lesson to cover insurance obligations then we took off for a run. The roads and route don’t matter because YHC just makes up names for the roads anyway. Maybe one day I will remember the names but in the mean time we turn left anf right at known land marks.. like the left turn at the dead end of the hilly road.. and right turn at Dunkin to go around the shopping area…

heck it is dark out.. you can’t read the signs anyway.

we got in 4 miles in all .. everyone got a chance to ride in and push the chair.. some did it the hard way and left the break on while pushing??!!

    Wishing everyone an enjoyable week.

  • A Lake Cruise

A dozen runners plus two dogs took a cruise down Lake Lorraine on a beautiful Friday morning. The route was North on Pump, right on Church, right on Lake Lorraine–in this neighborhood, go left every time you are given the choice, hit two cul-de-sacs and work your way up the hill and back to Church. Then either John Rolfe to Glen Eagles to Ridgefield to the flag for 4.5 miles or John Rolfe all the way to Ridgefield to the flag for 5.1 miles.

It is great to see Blue Moon running again and Mr. Rogers having the day off and being there for the COT.

Announcements: Lunch next Tuesday at Firehouse Subs, Innsbook. Beer Mile and Blacksburg F3 launch on 10/29. See Slack for more details. Prayers for Gypsy’s sister and her doctors. May she find healing soon.

    Storytime:

My wife and I saw Toad the Wet Sprocket last night at the National. We saw them for the first time a little over 30 years ago at the Flood Zone.

There’s some Toad song lyrics from the song “Starting Now” that stick with me: “The best time to change was many years ago. Next best thing, is starting where we are.” I need to always work at being a better father, husband, son, brother, friend and holding onto regrets does not ever help. “I’ve wasted years, won’t waste another instant”. Let’s go out and be our best today.
