  • Brocode

11 of F3RVA’s finest gathered for this months episode of Brocode, Currahee style.

Mills Godwin, North on Pump, West on Ridgefield, South on Lauderdale and back. Slight detour on the back in which we “lost” Pigskin, Honeydo, and Roger Roger. Luckily Roger, Roger used his ability to navigate by the stars as an Pilot and they figured out the way home.

I love this crew at Currahee. Ride or die, bad boys for life.

Announcements – The Hard Way at Dogpile led by Circle K tomorrow. Tater Q at Gridiron. Shawn G Hogan Memorial Beer Mile on Oct 29th at 1900 hours.

  • Smith Mountain Lake’s new Marty Byrd ?

10 towering redwoods were happy for the cooler weather and easier breathing.

5mi Route was into the Canturbury rabbit warren and true to form we missed at least one turn. Glad that the PAX know the AO better – we can now be more creative.

4milers grousing about the return route along pump jeopardizing their running safety missed the suggestions for a reduced traffic route. After 2 attempts, YHC let them find their own route.

    All ran happy.

    5mi Canturbury route

YHC likes this route as the slow climb on the back end is good training. The reverse route seems more challenging thanks to the steepness of climb on Raintree (left on the elevation below) – but this route has the same climb more gradually. Moreover compared to other places – this is mild.

YHC took us out. Prayers for all facing daily health, personal, and spiritual growth challenges, Amy (Gypsy’s Sister), Carson (Roger Roger’s 2.0), and Whitesnake avoiding becoming the next Marty Byrd for foreign family centric business in the greater Roanoke area.

    Coffeeteria at Dunkin.

    Announcements-

    • Convergence 730a GridIron 9/24; park in front of the school if you can; coffeeteria on site after; see preblast

NMS – We are blessed with many things, and there are plety of challenges – lets not make us stuff to be upset about. It is sad that there are some that are trying to cause strife (and worse) for others, but most do not. Most people dont wake up in the morning planning to harm others – many do not know that their pursuits harm others. Those of us with the intent and energy are called to meet everyone with kindness and hope for the best in others – we can be transformative for so many.

  • Umbrella Route

With a deliberately long route planned for Gypsy, YHC and five others took to the hilliest streets of the West End.  Gypsy was on assignment, but here’s where the rest went:

    The Route

    • R on Pump
    • R on Ridgefield
    • R on Falconbridge
    • L on Raintree
    • Continue across Gayton to Chauncey to Waltham (Go desired distance)
    • Reverso Waltham to Chauncey across Gayton to Raintree
    • L on Falconbridge
    • R on Pump
    • Back to VSF

Currahee is typically not quite as hilly as SpiderRun, but YHC tried to find its best impersonation today.  Good pace with Pinto and Lighthouse leading the way.  All returned nearly on time, none got lost.  YHC will consider the route a success.  Discussions of BRR continue, the allure may be too much for Mr. Rogers to resist returning.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • Convergence and Retreat – 9/24
    • Beer mile in October – See Faceplant
    • Prayers for lots of guys going through hard times
  • Statute of Limitations Backblast

Nine ran around the West End to parts YHC doesn’t recall, but there were loops around a townhouse or condo community to determine the desired mileages. Backblast was timely-ish.

  • Breaking and Entering, Misdemeanor?

With BRR live, five men took to the mean streets surrounding Godwin HS in their honor.  According to the interweb, the route should have been a public hair shy of 5 miles, though Gypsy’s watch said otherwise.  Nonetheless appropriate mileage was accomplished.  Here’s where they went:

    The Route

    • R on Pump
    • L on Ridgefield
    • R on Copperas
    • R on Little League Drive
    • Follow main road up and around TSI Training Center
    • Exit TLL complex passing Field 10 over to Field 4 and through the pathway
    • L on John Rolfe
    • R on Pump
    • Finish with a loop of Godwin

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

YHC figured numbers would be low with many of the Currahee regulars in the mountains, but was happy to see 4 other smiling faces.  YHC swears the route when mapped was 4.88 miles but will plan routes closer to 6 next time to keep everyone happy.  Tuckahoe Little League was surprisingly locked up, though far from secure.  A quick shimmy through the loosely chained gate and the PAX was on its way.  Enjoy the weekend.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • Gypsy has pre-run at GridIron tomorrow
    • Convergence and Retreat – 9/24
    • Ruck if interested in October – See Gomer
    • Beer mile in October – See Faceplant
    • Prayers for the BRR teams – watch where you step when exiting the van
  • Lakewood Manor trot

    Curahee:

10 warriors drove out to curahee for a pleasant morning. We must mention 3 pax dropped off and put in extra steps. Mr. Rogers peeled off to his house. Whitesnake and Homeydo found a new route which made the excursion to 6 miles!

    The route

Millington, left Ridgefield, left rolfield, rt rolfe way. Left john rolf pkwy. 4s turn back and reverse at gayton. 5s continue across gayton. Lakewood manor for one loop then reverse. 6s two loops in Lakewood manor!

The lost pax were found and returned unharmed. they requested to re-create the unknown route at a later time. All of this with a big welcome to our fng Hokie (hoos fan and graduate)

thanks for letting me be the tour guide!

  • Currahee brocode

Most ran a piece; one walked/ ran. All are brothers. Roger Roger took us out.

NMS – vexed by the inability to get the pax list right from an iphone since is below the fold. Srsly would be a lot more interesting on acid. im jes trying to use d phone browser

Let me know if anything is off. done

    The Thang.

    Route was The Crazy 8.

5.25 miles with 300ft elevation gain. An opportunity to cut a corner for the 4 milers and do just the top part of loop for 2 miler walkers.

Heck of a route with Glenn Eagles hill at mile 3 to 4. It’s a .8 mile climb. Ouch.

All got a little better. No one left behind.

  • On the Books

Eight guys plotted a route off the books until YHC foiled that plan via early morning Q sheet grab.  Here’s where YHC made them go:

    The Route

    • L on Pump
    • L on Falconbridge
    • L on Raintree
    • R on Ridgefield
    • L on Cox
    • L on Brookmont (zig zag at end to Pump)
    • R on Pump (L on Pump and circle Godwin for shorter 4ish mile route)
    • L on John Rolfe
    • L on Glen Eagles
    • L on Old Prescott back to the Flag

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Unaware that Roger Roger had a plan, YHC literally took the Q and ran with it.  Get it?  Lol, dad joke unlocked.  Great to see familiar faces though some at unfamiliar paces.  Hmmm, YHC is a poet and didn’t know it.  Anyway, come back next Friday to see if RR’s plan is now on the books.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • West End lunch 2nd F – next week – details to follow
    • Prayers for continued healing of several guys
  • Last Friday Bro-Code

7 Pax took to the streets of Short Pump area.

If you are a regular of Currahee you know the Bro-code route.
Pump to church to Copperas to Ridgefield back to AO.

Pax paired up and started the run. Turn back for the 6 at each turn point.

Lots of great conversation, but as mentioned before … the Bro-Code run is one long 45 min COT.
What happens in the COT stays in the COT….you gotta show to know.

Announcements – The Healing Place Saturday workout starts off next Saturday at 0730, see Slack for details.

Call a Pax member you have not seen or heard from in a while. It might be what he needed to get through the day today.
