    The Thang.

    Route was The Crazy 8.

5.25 miles with 300ft elevation gain. An opportunity to cut a corner for the 4 milers and do just the top part of loop for 2 miler walkers.

Heck of a route with Glenn Eagles hill at mile 3 to 4. It’s a .8 mile climb. Ouch.

All got a little better. No one left behind.

  • On the Books

Eight guys plotted a route off the books until YHC foiled that plan via early morning Q sheet grab.  Here’s where YHC made them go:

    The Route

    • L on Pump
    • L on Falconbridge
    • L on Raintree
    • R on Ridgefield
    • L on Cox
    • L on Brookmont (zig zag at end to Pump)
    • R on Pump (L on Pump and circle Godwin for shorter 4ish mile route)
    • L on John Rolfe
    • L on Glen Eagles
    • L on Old Prescott back to the Flag

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Unaware that Roger Roger had a plan, YHC literally took the Q and ran with it.  Get it?  Lol, dad joke unlocked.  Great to see familiar faces though some at unfamiliar paces.  Hmmm, YHC is a poet and didn’t know it.  Anyway, come back next Friday to see if RR’s plan is now on the books.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • West End lunch 2nd F – next week – details to follow
    • Prayers for continued healing of several guys
  • Last Friday Bro-Code

7 Pax took to the streets of Short Pump area.

If you are a regular of Currahee you know the Bro-code route.
Pump to church to Copperas to Ridgefield back to AO.

Pax paired up and started the run. Turn back for the 6 at each turn point.

Lots of great conversation, but as mentioned before … the Bro-Code run is one long 45 min COT.
What happens in the COT stays in the COT….you gotta show to know.

Announcements – The Healing Place Saturday workout starts off next Saturday at 0730, see Slack for details.

Call a Pax member you have not seen or heard from in a while. It might be what he needed to get through the day today.

  • RTT for BRR

10 of the best from the West End and a fast visitor from Raleigh tried to not get lost in a 4-5 mile run that included ~1.5 miles of Rain Tree Trails (RTT). Lots of hills and different terrain hopefully was good BRR prep for a few of us. YHC is the only one who had experienced the trails before and noticed that the roots got bigger in the dark. The team only had one fall and some got lost after the trail ended but everyone made it back safely. The route went something like this:

Pump South to Falconbridge to Raintree South to the Raintree club.

Take the trail on the LEFT of the Raintree complex (some learned that going to the right of the complex is not possible) and then take the lake trail counterclockwise around the lake. Admire the lake and wildlife. 3/4 the way around the lake, take the trail on the right.

This trail takes you to Rounding Run which takes you back to Falconbridge. Go right on Falconbridge and quickly look for the trail entrance on the left.

Take the trail for a mile, avoid the roots and rocks, crossing the stream while avoiding the trolls living under the bridges. Trail ends at Rocky Point Parkway and find your way back to Ridgefield (done a few different ways).

Take Ridgefield down past Pump and come back on Old Prescott.

Announcements: BRR in Sept (need more runners), new AO in Manchester starting Saturday mornings at 7:30 with the Healing Place (see Offshore for more info), Sin N Sip 9/24 (see Gomer for more info). Check Slack for other stuff.

Prayers for Lab Rat and Gomer’s sister-in-law and family.

Good to have El Chapo from Raleigh join us the past couple of days. Always a privilege to Q and glad I did not get anyone too lost.

    • Left onto Ridgefield

COP: Name-a-rama, Numberarama, Announcements, YHC took us out

    NMS

Today was the 2nd of 7 planned DaVille Takeovers which will go until December. It was great being back at my old high school running through some familiar neighborhoods and others that didn’t exist 30 years ago. For those who have not run in the far west end, its hilly. I enjoyed the conversations I had with the PAX during the run which included mostly topics related to the areas that surround Godwin. It was nice meeting Lighthouse today. YHC is also anticipating a return trip to Currahee in the near future as he was close to having an FNG post there today as well as seeing one of his friends with his daughter run through the campus of Godwin during the COT.

    Annoucements

    • The Forge will have a seal team workout next Thursday July 21 and Bone Thugs will be leading it. It will end in a water gun fight, so make sure you bring one if posting there.
    • Next Saturday (July 23, 2022) DaPile will be forming up at the Kings Charter Clubhouse @ 7am for a 1 hour workout with Coffeeteria at the local cup after.
    • A few more members are needed for the BRR as well as other fall F3 events.
    • The next DaVille Takeover is coming to an AO near you on Monday, August 8. Be ready!

This run was a great way to end the week! It was an honor to lead this fine group of gentlemen.

  • Rare and better than RAMM!

Seven stalwarts slew the Brookmont route. Most opted for the 5+ ish route, some did a little less.

YHC took us out. Prayers for Supafly / long covid sufferers & Fudd’s M.

NMS – great to see everyone today. It was humid. Handshake missed a rare day – better than any day at RAMM, ever. This is one of YHC’s favorite Currahee routes and the last hill on Crowncrest is a real fitness test. If you squint at the map you can see all sorts of little extensions that enable shorter / longer runs while everyone stays close.

  • ‘bruh Code

8 of the West Ends finest joined for a run. After a last minute Q change YHC grabbed it. A route was planned from the toilet at 5:12 this morning. YHC rolled in at 5:29 blasting Beastie Boys “Sabotage” and a quick duck and roll and we were off. We deviated from the plan slightly because YHC missed a couple of turns but we got our 4 mile ‘bruh Code in.

Announcements – a non-convergence – convergence at Batteau on Monday, July 4th at 7:00. and there was something else…?

Prayer requests – Blue Moon and his recovery from Knee Surgery. Pinto and his recovery. Gomer and his crew as they recover from Covid.

  • A run in the park

3 Currahee faithful met in the gloom for a 4.2 mi brocode run in one of the darkest AOs in the West End now graciously lit up by the Sky Q. Pigskin took us out.

NMS – this is one of YHC’s favorite routes but reticent to take PAX through there in the dark until we know it better. Its not terrible, just added excitement while running and watching footing for roots, even on some of the paved sections in the woods. Enjoyed catching up with Pigskin and Lighthouse today.

  • You do you run Route

9 regulars, 1 Down Ranger and 1 from across the river came to see what SOJ was going to send their way this morning. YHC was the chosen one, really YHC just signed up for it but chosen one sounds better.

After a very long email from Gomer with every possible route known to man for the Currahee area 2 where chosen a 6 miler and a 4 miler. Some discussion about who was going what distance and what the routes where. YHC, Lighthouse and Oloff went the longer route and ended up around 5.5 miles but it wasn’t the one YHC had printed off. Everyone else went the distance they felt comfortable with and met back at the flag in 45 minutes.

Numbers / Names Gypsy took us out

    NMS:

Many are the plans in a persons heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21

    Let that sink in.

When things don’t go your way or turn out the way you expected them to. It could be because God has something better for you. Let go of trying to make it work your way, let God take control.

  • The Wild West End

Five half-awake rock stars went on an expedition to find a lake to run around, multiple times. Early on the route, “Won’t you be my neighbor?” was heard from the woods and five became six.

We ran downhill to the Raintree Swim and Racket club, ran 2-4 laps around the half-mile lake path, looked for Gomer and Gypsy in the pool, and then ran uphill all the way back for a 4-5 mile run depending on how many laps of the lake you did. We saw and heard lots of wildlife (cranes, hawks, frogs, whitesnake) which made the run different than the normal neighborhood routes. The fog on the lake was a nice touch.

    Conversations went something like this:

    – Where are we?
    – Corner of Bumfuck and You Got a Purty Mouth.

    and

    – The only chance we have to survive is to huddle together for warmth
    – I, for one, choose death.

Uphill on the way back and doing laps on the same route were not the Pax favorites so next time we will do a track workout and just the laps.

    Thanks for letting me Q.
