today was a new idea and a taste of IronPAX which is starts on September 3rd at Timberwolf. Idea is that there’s not much benefit to a HIT workout beyond 30 minutes, and you can get a lot of benefit from just 15 minutes of stretching, so why not do both in one workout? Credit to the F3 podcast Hunt For Wellness for the idea. Oh and we listened to old school metal, seemed like the right thing for a tough workout 🎸 🤘🏻

  • The false start burpee

Despite their better judgement, 10 SOJers met at the cool and moist fields of Timberwolf for the final installment of IronPAX 2025, the Bert WOD. After some explanation to those who didn’t know the plan, and as Captain Kirk and Nancy Lopez joined us, we hit the ground running with:

Background: The Bert WOD is dedicated to U.S. Marine Cpl. Albert Gettings, 27, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, who died on Jan. 5, 2006, while conducting counter-sniper operations in Fallujah, Iraq. Cpl. Gettings was serving as a team leader with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, at the time of his death.

Every quarter, Cpl. Gettings’ fellow Marines in Fox Company complete a special CrossFit workout in his honor as part of the Cpl. Albert P. Gettings Award ceremony.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Palimino; parents, David and Juliet; and sister, Cori.”

  • “Possum Kingdom”

The feeling was bittersweet as 4 of us came to close out the Iron PAX Challenge of 2025 with the Week 4 Bert WOD this gloom. YHC had to redeem himself for the poor DJ mix from Week 0 and hope yalll were happy with this mornings mix, as Possum Kingdom by Toadies was very fitting once we were in the 2nd half of the WOD.

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

    Matthew 7:8

  • Sweet, Sweet Septic

A duo of not so dastardly dudes emerged from the 70 & sunny gloom for Week 3 of the 2025 Iron Pax Challenge! We were greeted by the sweet odor of an overflowing septic tank in the area that stuck with us throughout the entire challenge, we might get some sort of bonus reps for enduring such putrid circumstance.

    The Thang

Set 40 minute timer with buzzer every five mins to run 25 yards and perform 5 burpees.

  • 8 Track Replay!

Us New Kent fellas love IPC so much we put Week 2 on replay! 4 he-man woman haters emerged from the gloom to get this 8 track party rolling! We had a sore Beaver and Choo Choo from Weds IPC session and tried our best to prepare Yukon and Wonka on what to expect, not sure if we added any value because it sounds like they’re already sore.

There wasn’t a whole lot of chatter during the workout as we all passed eachother like ships in the night.

    Convergence tomorrow!

    NMM

YHC continues to be impressed by PAX who continue to get out here and push themselves by choosing the hard thing and doing IPC week after week! Extra TCLAPS to Cookie eh hit the track after we were done to get in a run ! 🤯
