  • Hijack the Q!

YHC arrived to the Hill thinking he had signed the Q sheet only to learn Duke was going for the hat trick. YHC has been having some issues with the sign up sheet. Not wanting to write a 3rd BB in 3 days Duke surrendered the Q to my plan. Being out of town next week this was my last Friday of the month so a Murph was in order.

    Quick warm up.

    We did the Murph!

YHC took us out in prayer.

  • You work out everyday, but you’re not strong.

At 5:26am YHC all alone at the AO thought he was going to have to start knocking on some doors.  Thankfully, a few of Satan Hill regulars and one still on a runners high made it 9 for a Hot Potato Q.   YHC forgot to pass the Q.

  • Another Anniversary

12 men braved the perfect weather to post on Satan’s Hill for a special anniversary of the Battle of Leyte Q by YHC.

Warm Up – SSH, Hillbillies (Yee Haw!) and Stretching

Wilson was offered the option of A or B; he chose B so the PAX broke into three lines for a bear crawl Indian Run to the top of Satan’s Hill. Back down and repeat because it was so much fun (the 2nd time was actually a little easier).

At the top again the PAX broke into 2 groups for 4-Corners – Murcans, Carolina Dry Docks, LBC, Squats

Finish and head to the rock pile for Military Press, Curls for the Girls and squats – Rotate to the left with each set, so we could all enjoy the rock Parker chose (Honeymoon commented it was larger than Virginia).

One more trip to the top of SH in the bear crawl Indian Run (that last one put a whole lotta hurtin’ on most of us).

Circle for some focus mitts training, without the mitts, where we learned that Vagabond has some boxing skills inherited from his grandfather and heaven help anybody trying to return a car to Kelly’s lot!

Numberama, Name-o-rama, YHC took us out in prayer.

October 25, 1944- in a segment of the largest naval battle in history, the Battle of Leyte Gulf, known as the battle off Samar a superior Japanese force surprised an overmatched American Task Force. The Japanese had 4 battleships, including the largest battleship ever put to sea, the Yamato, and a number of cruisers and the Americans had 3 destroyers, a Destroyer Escort and some vulnerable Escort Carriers. It looked like the Japanese would have an easy time of it when the USS Johnston (Destroyer) led by Commander Ernest Evans (posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor) turned toward the Japanese fleet to attack. The largest gun the Americans had were 5 inch guns. The Yamato had 18.1 inch guns that weighed more than the entire Johnston. I encourage you to look the battle up as it is one of the most courageous chapters in Naval History.

  • Vichyssoise

When no scheduled Q showed up, YHC decided to get the PAX started. Vagabond suggested a hot potato Q; but I decided to just take over and serve up some vichyssoise.

Warm up – SSH, Murcans, Other stuff

Up the hill in a bear crawl Indian run.

4 Corners – Murcans, LBC, squats

Back for rock work – Military press, curls for the girls, squats, murcans, planks etc.

    One last sprint.

Numberamama, nameorama YHC took us out in prayer

  • Where you at New Market?

It was a cool 72 degrees on Satan’s Hill which brought out some PAX cold weather gear. YHC posed the question If you wear it now what are you going to do when it gets cold? A PAX of 8 was ready to take on the hill. At first YHC was the lone NM representative. Parker came rolling in as we started COP.

COP 20 each: SSH’s, LBC’s, 10 each: DQ, Imperial walkers, Hillbillies, Jazzercise, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutters, Dollies.

    The Thang: Grab a coupon.

Round 1: 11’s with coupon combo curl/press at bottom of lot and incline merkins on top.

    100 Chest press with coupon.

    Mini Dora 2 50, 100, 150.

Prayers to Parker and M and family. Thankful McGruff’s Dad has recovered well from his fall.

Freed to Bleed is this Wednesday. A few slots left at last check.

Thankful for the Roundtrey clown car, Rosco and the Satan’s Hill regulars who have made this AO a must for my weekly rotation. Cheers!

  • Last Minute call

    warmarama: SSH, Cherry Pickers, Mur’cans

1 mile run through scenic New Market.

    Indian bear crawl up SH.

    back down for rock work.

    one last run up SH.

end with ab workout including the Charles Martel.

    COT prayer home.

Throughout the workout YHC told the story of Charles Martel (the hammer) who unified and led the Frank’s as they repelled the invasion of Western Europe by Islamic raiders. October 11, 732 Charles met them outside Poitiers and saved Western civilization. The importance of this battle cannot be overstated and YHC believes all free men would do well to honor the memory of Charles.
