  • Approved By the Boss, Not Approved By The Board Of Directors

Bruce Springsteen’s Born To Run album came out 50 years ago this week. YHC figured that’s a perfectly loungey album to bring to Twin Team. Final Thoughts: With most of the Lounge gatekeepers absent, we were able to get a little more running in than normal. It was wet and humid, but the PAX pushed through and were looking strong. Great to see House Party’s knee improving and Deep Dish moving well! The Tarrington Crew was representing. Lots of great activities tomorrow including The Bridge and Homegrown Half. I will be there in spirit for both.

  • Corners and Conversation

5 southsiders looked back and forth at each other at 0530 until someone said, I’ll take it. Today, that someone was me and I decided not to pass around the potato. After a Slaughter Starter of 20 burpees was laughed out of the lounge, we moseyed to the back of the school for some warm up in conversation.

4 corners abounded as did the conversation discussions about vacations, golf vs fishing, meditation, and the best ways to diminish a troublesome bird population. Rounds of 4 corners included 10 merkins, 20 squats, 30 FM, 40 APD/Invisible Jump Rope, 30 Sugar Sticks, 20 Monkey Humpers, 10 not burpees (HRM).

Mosey around the school to the picnic tables for some rounds of dips, cactus squats, and bench kicks.

YHC was inspired by the coffee at Circus and dropped the secret of brewing during the workout to the PAX and Last Call had already found at least 1 outlet before we left the AO. Whether it works is another question. New onsite coffeeteria coming soon?

Homegrown Half 8/16 – come out and run/ruck some miles – 13.1 miles, 6.2 miles, or other distance of your choosing available.

  • Triples all around

6 PAX, no Q on the sheet, that screams for a hot potato with some Triple Checks. YHC kicked it off witih an extended Lounge and Chaplain-esque warmup with some exercises in cadence and some various methods of movement across the blacktop.

Stay there for Triple Check #1 – curb toe taps, Freddies, run the length.

Rodeo Clown moseyed us to the pull up bars for an extended 5 round Triple – run the field, WWII, and pull ups/bar hangs. Rounds 4 and 5 were definitely more hang than pull.

RC’s extended triple left little time for Doozy’s triple check of squats, lunges and a bear crawl/curb walk/crawl bear timer. Since he did not have a watch on, YHC called time and took over for the final mosey and backblast.

    Announcements –

    • That’s the short term list – many more things on the longer term be on the lookout for more
  • Easy Fella, this is the Lounge

5 SOJ studs met up with 2 of Tuckahoes finest to sneak past the velvety ropes and into the tepid embrace of the Lounge. YHC held strong that the Q obligation would overrule the embrace of the fartsac. Although tempting, YHC made his return to join fellow loungers of similar approaches.

Mosey to the base of Twin Team Hill for introductions and disclaimers. Warm up included a variety of exercises and catching up with recent tales of the summer.

Mosey down to the path and into Robious Forest for a quick DORA. 100 LBC, 200 squats, 300 flutters. Timer runs 100 yds+/- and back.

Wosey back to play some Frogger across Robious. Lunge walk and Ukranian Soilders 1/2 way to the baseball fields. Mosey back over to the black top for some wall work. PAX performs Peoples Chair or other activity of your choosing while one person lunges, runs or bear crawls across the blacktop and to the end of the line. 4 rounds and lets move.

Mosey to the benches for a few sets of elevated merkins, steps ups and dips. BTTVF flag for quick stretch. Names Numbers, Announcements and Prayers. YHC took us out.

Clown Car to the Bridge tomorrow. Various departure points.

Prayers to Handshake M’s cousin going thru relapse of cancer at 11 years old.

Prayers to Rodeo Clowns family friend that was lost in the recent Texas floods.

NMS: Good to be back at the Lounge with a great crew. Good Mumble Chatter and good mix of laughs had by many. Topics included beach week, summer plans, boating and empty nesting. Keeping Senor Frog at a casual pace is tough. Thank you boys for the opportunity to start the morning of in a good mood.

  • Loungish

Torn between showing the Summer Tourists the AO namesake vs living up to the lounge mentality, YHC came up with a hybrid option for the 9 men that came out to enjoy the humidity of Twin Team.

Mosey to the bottom of the cul-de-sac with the threat of the hill looming for the standard warm up fare. Move up the hill for the heavy part of the workout – TwinTeam Beast but there’s a catch. Round 1 – 3 exercises at a time: 6 merkins, 6 WWII, 6 Jump Squats run up the hill to various stopping points and make your way back down. Round two, same exercises and stopping points but walking up the hill – Lounge style, in conversation. Stop at the top for some Mary before the mosey down the hill. More stuff at the bottom of the hill and some lounge like stretching and arm circle variations to close out the time.

This workout started very un-lounge like which almost resulted in a immediate reprimand from the Lounge Board of Directors but alterations midway through held off any action. I am still expecting a sternly worded letter from the Lounge and possibly a civil penalty but that remains to be seen.

Thanks to Blue Moon and EF Hutton for joining us at the Lounge – since this AO is only 1 minute further for Blue Moon we might see him again soon.

The Bridge – 7/19 join Whitesnake, Heist and others

Prayers for Doublemint and his family as they go through the last few days with his mother in hospice.

Additional prayers for Wildcat’s son who sustained a broken bone on day 1 of him being alone with the kids. Hopefully they make it through the rest of the weekend without further injury.

  • Pimpin, I mean Loungin ain’t easy

4 lounge ready individuals started another weekend keeping it loungy. No Q on the sheet so YHC decided to take the opportunity to employ the KISS method to this mornings beatdown and go with what you know.

Mosey to the back of BWES, lots of stretches with some other movements

Mosey to door 1, at each door do that number of called exercise. Luckily there are only 10 doors so WWIIs seamed to be a good call. We did another round with lunges too

Mosey back around to the back for 4 corners, keep it loungy 5 – LBCs, 10 – WWIIs, 15 – Scrunchy Frogs, 20 – American Hammers. Another round with an audible 10 – Squats, 15 – Lung walks (turned into 10 because of the space), 20 – LT Dans (turned into 10 because), 25 – Monkey Humpers

Mosey to the playground – 10 pullups or just hang there, 10 Merkins, 5 pullups – 5 merkins, 3 pullups – 3 merkins

Back to the front of BWES – more stretching

BTTF numbers / names YHC took us out

NMS: Using the regular lexicon and keeping it loungy is harder than you would think

  • Stay Loungy My Friends

Dos of the Most Interesting Men in the World beat the warmer temps to discover the happenings at the Lounge. Here is how thing went down.

Mosey to the main entrance of James River High School for causal warmarama. Mainly stretching with a bit of short cardio, all in conversation.

Mosey on down to the Swamp for some track work. 4 corners was called as the field was a bit dewey along with the fear inspiring sign to lay off the grass. Round 1: 10 Merkins, 20 WWII’s, 30 Squats, 40 Monkey Humpers. Round 2 – same exercises but add 5 to each rep. 2 laps completed was good enough.

Mosey up to the baseball fields using various methods of movement including lunges, high knees, butkickers, etc. Go thru the gate across the field and to the blacktop.

Short 11’s: 1 squat run across the short side of the blacktop for 10 curbside merkins, brocode style.

Mosey around the school to get some bench work in with dips and step ups. 2 rounds.

BTTVF with 2 quick mosey laps around the loop. Announcements, Prayers, YHC took us out.

Announcements: Chaplains Abtacular Event happening next Saturday (6/28) at Rock and Roll. Come get that 18 pack you need for pool season. Homegrown Half planned for August. Summer Tour continues on.

NMS: After a week of questionable parental guidance, YHC needed to get back into the morning routine with some good intellectual discussions. Always enjoy the smaller 1 on 1 beatdowns as many world problems were solved with the quality mumble chatter. Thank you for joining me this morning Chaplain. Great times.
