YHC came up with this lil thing last fall.  The PAX of First Watch love-hate it so much, seemed only appropriate to share with the rest of the PAX.  Great as always to have Guinness from out of town.  Handshake dropped numerous four-letter words when he saw the old Green Pill board awaiting the PAX upon arrival at the Triangle.  Music to YHC’s ears.  Phonics set the pace, only slowed down slightly by Block Thrusters.  Mr. Rogers was right on his heels.  Police made an appearance when they heard someone was doling out pills.  Perhaps they came to chase off the predators lying in wait.  YHC saw the white van, but didn’t see the driver of the car, though UpChuck says their appearance would certainly lead one to believe you’d find them on a particular registry.  Maybe someone reported the unidentified flying object.  YHC suspects that was a group we shall call Meal Cream trying to steal the Green Pill and charge fifty bucks a pop for it.

  • Is This Too Much?

Nothing much to see here, just 3 dudes appropriately dressed running 3 to 4 miles and one guy dressed to venture North of the Wall. Some good conversation along the way. YHC learned today that Gomer was once known as Rock and the true freaks meet at 0545 near Maymont to ruck around town.

Attempting a deep fake, YHC dropped the hint that Green was in today’s forecast.  Whether it was the weather, the threat of the Green Pill, or too much toothbrushing, a smallish crowd for a St. Patrick’s Day First Watch.  No worries, the PAX was lively and bright like that first Guinness of the day.  Speaking of Guinness, Last Call couldn’t let the biggest drinking day of the year get started without a toast.  Appreciate the refreshments.  If so inclined YHC recommends you Hooligans check out Derry Girls on Netflix, a show about a group of schoolgirls growing up in early 90s Ireland.  It should make you laugh, unless of course you’re English.

After some technical issues, the routes were pre-published to give the PAX a chance to visualize the route before getting overwhelmed by the directions.  To YHC’s knowledge all followed the route to a T, though all fell a hair short of the desired mileage.  Unfamiliar with the attire recommended for a Southern Gentleman, TYA opted for a less classic look.  Pre-run he dressed as a hot dog, post-run as a member of Wham!  This route was chosen with safety in mind; however some unnamed members of the PAX chose to ignore road closings on the ride in today.  From the literal sound of it, UpChuck nearly lived up to his name, while following Corned Beef who apparently was struggling to digest his namesake.  Early St. Patty’s Day feast?

Somehow there are multiple levels of wetness, today started pretty harmless and dry, but leveled up quickly.  YHC kept the PAX off its 6, then Singer said $%& it and called for WWIIs on the downhill end of the parking lot.  By the time the PAX reached Hitch’s LBCs, UpChuck’s back to parking lot suction sounded like a toilet plunger after dollar taco night.  Bodos had the guns on display looking taut.  Personally, YHC would save that shirt for date night.

Never skip leg day.  YHC repeats, never skip leg day.  But it’s also quite acceptable to sneak in 160 merkins and 40 Burpees along the way.  Oh, and abs are important too.  But also don’t forget the cardio.  Best off to just work it all.  Won’t speak for the entire PAX, but YHC felt it everywhere when done.  UpChuck says YHC is developing a reputation.  Pretty sure he meant for being an assassin, but maybe just for being an ass.

Apologies to all for YHC’s failure to anticipate Fraternity Row being impassable.  Rumor has it, all but Saabski took the alternate route around.  YHC is grateful no one was injured.  The 6s were supposed to be about a tenth short on the original route. At least they finished in full, so there’s that.  No shortage of big hills and Westham is a long grind, but this twisted group seems to enjoy that sort of thing.  Good to see Marv again and Flatline don’t be a stranger either.

YHC received a text first thing this morning asking if the PAX should have lights.  UpChuck was very eager to show off his new headlamp.  Rumor has it a friend from Harvard business school created the world’s first headlamp specifically contoured for the heads of bald men.  It also doubles as a lighthouse beacon.  As the PAX at FW continues to grow, a new supply of blocks is needed.  Donations can be left at the northeast corner of First Watch headquarters.  Closest thing to OSOTW goes to UpChuck’s former coworker who has a tramp stamp in honor of her father.  As if that story was not entertaining enough, Bodos off-roading over the curb on his way out solidified First Watch as the most fun you can have at 0500.

  • Proper BC

Five disobeyed mother nature to put in some cold miles before and after the main event. Proper route of ET’s to Dogpile via Robinson then straight shot back was the prescription of the day. Wisdom prevailed as runners plus moseyed via car to Libbie Market for a proper hot breakfast. Place seems like something of a mini Woke-Mart, but breakfast is hot and ready and available at the earliest hour with inside seating as well. Not too shabby.
