  • Alpaca Beans

A six pack put in miles in search of another six pack. Got it done at a very healthy clip today. 4ish miles at a roughly an 8-8:30 pace. Rosie did a bit more because he’s excellent. Conversation was great and educational. Alpaca sh*t is full of nitrogen and makes a darn fine tea according to Mrs. Wood.

When EF Hutton speaks, people listen, except when there’s too many words.  Sometimes a little goes a long way.  Today’s directions included too many details, like run past the amphitheater and tennis courts and zig-zag across Three Chopt, or make a loop around the dogwalker on Crenshaw.  Next week 23 minutes out, 22 minutes back.  Great to see a couple of familiar faces back out and to have a newbie join the ranks.  Welcome Wacker, weeds, moles, other things, whatever it takes.

YHC shared a friendly reminder not to judge too harshly, lest you turn out to be the a$$hole yourself.  YHC’s neighbor has mowed his lawn probably twice all summer.  YHC thought he was a real jerk.  After finally doing so again on Sunday YHC snarkily said to his neighbor, “bet you’re glad that’s done.”  The neighbor replied, “yeah it’s really hard for me.  I’m not well with my cancer treatments.  I guess I’m lucky to have lived this long though after being shot, stabbed, breaking my neck, and now cancer twice.”  Turns out YHC’s neighbor is also a veteran.  YHC will mow his neighbor’s lawn from now on.  Last lesson of the day, if you complain about launching at 0531 instead of 0530, you might just be the a$$hole.

One of the great things about First Watch has been the revolving door of PAX. Apart from the constant of Kubota and perhaps YHC, the numbers are consistently between 3 and 7 PAX, but seemingly never the same 3 to 7.  Several post enough to be called regulars, but there always seems to be a couple of PAX that are new or have only been out once or twice.  Awesome to have Swirly out for his 2nd visit to the earliest and perhaps now darkest AO in RVA today.  Always fun when 2 lunatics in dark clothing highkneeing down the street can scare the heck out of a dog walker.  Welcome back to Mrs. Wojo.  Married life seems to have been good so far, except for that 1% of control he’s now lost.

  • Preblast – Cornhole Tourney – Spread the Word

    Gents,

Lots more info will follow regarding the 2nd Annual Inaugural Retreat, but wanted to get the word out now about the associated Cornhole Tournament to be held that day, October 3rd, as well. We will plan to start the tournament slightly earlier than last year, shooting for a 2:00 pm start. The rules are the same as last year, see YHC with questions. Double elimination bracket style tournament. It is highly encouraged/ mandated that you find a partner from a different nano-region than your own and come up with a great team name. Please sign up on the monthly challenge google doc on the tab CORNHOLE 2.0 here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-L8e9W24ygnU0suaGyKxzi1PgPqY1CBd57hLrKTZI-g/edit#gid=1886940921

    MOLESKIN

YHC mistakenly claimed that doing an exercise and adding one repetition at each parking spot while moving from one end of the parking lot to the other was foolproof and the antithesis of an UpChuck Q.  WRONG.  Questions abound, and they didn’t stop there.  The PAX finally caught on halfway through the Jump Squats.  YHC should expect no less.  Greenbow suspected an 80s theme with the inclusion of Jazzercises and Suzanne Somers in the COP, but legwarmers and leotards will be reserved for another day.  More questions were raised regarding crossovers qualifying as SUVs, particularly Subaru Outbacks.  Most were included just to be safe.  Bodos questioned the Q calling for only 1 merkin per hour of the clock, you vs. you buddy.  Last question of the day was about Wilson’s Spaghetti party, that one will mostly remain a mystery.

F3 RVA CSAUP and Retreat coming this Fall

  • Working Up a Lather

5 hit the pavement early to get the sweat going before the sweat. 4 miles and some change, medium pace. Watermelon fueled the return trip.

  • Wilson and #BigData Sitting In a Tree…

Wilson is keeping it no secret that he’s atop the heap for #BigData through July so far. Well done! On this day he and 10 other seasoned vets put in work before and after the main event. 3.7 miles according to YHC’s tracker. Keep it cool out there.

  • Glad That’s Over

Four strong hit the trails for 7-8 miles, depending who you ask. It was miserable, we finished and that was that.
