  • Reformed or bust

Large crew today. 13 strong. We hit every church, school, and library in the area and stopped for short prayer for the new school year, alternating plank or squats at each location.

YHC mischaracterized St. Michael’s as catholic, oops. What’s the difference between Episcopal and Catholic anyways? At least they aren’t Baptist.

Stop at Snuff’s house and prayer of thanksgiving for his studliness & commitment to coffee and for his beauty rest, he needs it.

~3miles covered and record amount of prayer for this AO.

Ruckhenge Q sheet is looking wide open, get your name on it if you haven’t Q’d in a while (i.e. if your name isn’t DTH or Snip)

    TH: Heisenberg VQ;

    FR: Snuff family firned poop/pool party, whichever you desire;

  • 4.1 or bust

Seven studs set off promptly at 5 to meet our stretch goal for the morning: 4.1 miles to complete the 17.76 July ruck challenge. This is about 1 mile farther than the typical hour long ruck distance for this group. How did we do it? We didn’t drop weight. We didn’t drop packs. we added some faster intervals to push the pace and close the gap.

YHC wanted a nice flat route for this challenge, so we took a quick stroll down Huguenot, into Wayland neighborhood. Purely residential. Every 2 tenths of a mile we pushed the pace to a slowish jog. Then dropped back to a fast walk. Repeat 2 miles in we were right on pace. The runners circled back for the six each time to keep the PAX tight. Retraced steps BTTF. We were welcomed back by Last Call right before we ordered a McPain, supersized.

Total distance ended up at 4.13 miles. Goal met. 30 seconds to spare. Beautiful morning, fullish moon and red sunrise.

    Good work gents!

Numbers, names, announcements (see Slack!), prayer requests, and coffee.

  • Argentina, we feel your pain

    The THANG:

Six studs showed up post world cup final. Some mourned the loss of Argentina, others complained of too many brews/ late nights. After warmups we spent all morning on the pitch.

    WARMERAMA:

    • Mosey around the parking lot and back to the bells, circle up
    • Variable IC Reps to get the muscles warmed up

COP #1 and only: Modified KB suicides on the pitch

    • Mosey down to the football field/pitch
    • YHC explained the following to moans and growns from the PAX:
      • Start at near end zone,
      • carry KB to 5 yard line
      • Do 10 KB swings,
      • Drop KB and run back to the end line
      • 5 burpees
      • Run back to KB and move up to the 10 yard line
      • 10 more KB swings
      • Run back to end line (without KB) and 5 more burpees
    • This continued for the full length of the field, moving in 5 yard increments to the opposite end zone line
    • We moved from 10 swings, to 10 goblet squats, to 10 pulls, and then 10 clean/press
    • halfway through the 5 burpees became 5 merkins
    • Brocode – at every 10 yard interval, we waited for the six with rotating abb exercises
    • By the end of the workout, we had done 50 burpees, 50 merkins, 200 of various KB exercises noted above, and sprinted around 1.2 miles

Naked Moleskin:  This mornings COP felt like it would never end. After the lopsided game yesterday it felt only right to get on the pitch for a beatdown. Unlike Argentina, however, our physical pain brought success. Well done fighting through to the end men, what a bunch of studs!

  • Pass your burden

10 strong set off for an adventure. New streets unlocked passed the grand summit neighborhood in YHC’s old stomping grounds (Ben Nevis). I had to hold the PAX back from a detour skinny dipping in the local pool. Halfway through the ruck we stopped, dropped packs, and knocked out 20 merkins and 20 WWIIs. Rotate to the next rucksack to your left to hump your partner’s ruck back to the flag. Much trash talk on relative ruck weights ensued. ~3.2 miles covered.

Naked Moleskin:  We were reminded this morning of the strength we have in community when we 1) open up to other men regarding the burdens we carry and 2) the joy we receive in helping our brothers carry their burdens. Let us remember to be real with one another and offer our time and help when a brother is in need.

Was a nice large crew today. Enjoyed traversing Bon Air, finding a few hills and stairs in the process, and waving to Bronco’s sleeping family.

  • Perfect 12

12 studs showed up on a beautiful morning for ultimate frisbee.

Warmarama on the field with stretching and merkins while DTH set up cones. The PAX were reminded most of them weren’t in their 30s anymore, so should check themselves before they wreck themselves on the field.

6 v. 6 using full length of football field, but about half of the width.

Each time point is scored: scoring team does 10 double count flutters, loser team does 3 burpees.

Score ended something like 7 to 5. Team Snip won of course (DTH, Last Call, Heisenberg, Tin Man, and Belay) despite his numerous horrendous throws.

Mosey BTTF for announcements and prayer. Remember Dealer in your prayers as he is dealing with an knee injury. Machine Head’s family will be welcoming a new baby soon, prayers for speedy and safe arrival.

Great work gents. Enjoyed spending time with you all in my happy place.

We all missed Snuff’s coffee. Thanks DTH for cones and pennies!
