  • A Dolphin with a Plastic Bag Around His Nose

Ah, the things you remember hearing from a workout…..

A lucky 11 came out to perfect conditions – cool yet warm, dry yet no pollen, and with the perfect amount of humidity. Routes were declared and off people went!

    Marv took us out.

Announcements: D-day ruck on Thursday, June 4. Launch near Grove and Libbie in front of Jack Brown’s at 6:30 PM. We will cover 8.2 miles and 2nd F afterwards. See Slack for details or questions.

  • I think I saw Tzatziki’s Gyro

Eight merry men took off to NM villages for a little jog and fully body calisthenics session. Pretty sure we got to see more than we paid for doing Burt Reynolds let exercises.

We hit it all: 1) Legs, 2) Core, 3) Upper body (highlight being the drop set prison push ups).

Got about 2 miles in today.

    Prayers all around.

PS: Futon and I did some public service by tossing a soiled mattress in the dumpster.

  • Only 14?

Offshore will be missed as he heads out to Oklahoma in about a month or so. And his impact on Circus Maximus will be felt long after he becomes numb to tornado warnings. His impact at Circus (from making coffee weekly, which has led to a huge increase in weekly numbers) is so immense that having only 14 men at this AO felt like a small number. This was accentuated by a lack of mumble chatter, as Attila, Fudd, White Deer and White Snake, our typically chatty Cathys, were all absent.

With fresh batteries in my speaker, I pressed play on my new rockin’ playlist, featuring the greatest rock anthems from the last 50 years, gave an introduction and a disclaimer and then we got down to business.

COP: SSHs, DQs, Deadman Hang, Reach for the Sky (w/ a calf raise), AHs, WWIIs, Merkins aaaaand recover.

The thang: We worked our way down the body: OYO, 21 Overhead press, high pulls, curls (these got forgotten during round 1, thx for keeping me on track Pinto!), swings, sumo squats, AHs (single count) and Sit ‘n’ Press. Then we took a lap around the bus loop. Then a round of 18, followed by a lap. Then 15, 12, and 9. After doing 6 of each, we did 25 SSHs and after the final round of 3, we did 5 Burpees.

Move to the curb for 10 Overhead pulls (it might be called that), 10 Bench presses and some Flutters. Repeat. 60 second leg hold -aaaaand that’s time. Well done men!

    BTTF. Names. Numbers.

Announcements: 2nd Tuesday, 2nd F, June 9, @ 12pm. This time we’re hittin’ up Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe (in the same shopping center as Joey’s Hotdogs).

Handshake has officially launched the Summer Tour. See slack for updates.

Congrats to Joey Chestnut for graduating high school, for Lighthouse’s son graduating 8th grade, and mine for 5th grade.

No prayer requests. Nevertheless, YHC took us out.

Moleskin: Be kind to yourself. Watch your self talk. Speak to yourself as you would a close friend. Why? Because it will help you better achieve your goals. Research supports this. This all came from a great podcast that Lighthouse shared with our Shield Lock. It’s on Emotional Regulation. Here’s a link if you’re interested: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/10-happier-with-dan-harris/id1087147821?i=1000767805055

I often end BBs reminding us to go do something for someone else. Maybe today, try to be a little extra kind to yourself. That guy counts too!

    SYITG!

  • By-Product’s Aunt Edna Infatuation

Five able-bodied men rolled up for By-Product’s second Q in the past six years, expecting a light credit workout. Aunt Edna, punctual as always, was already there and casually mentioned she outposted Attila for the month of May.

Before kicking off pre-work warmups, By-Product led the PAX over to meet Aunt Edna. During the meet-and-greet, we learned her real name is Linda—and it didn’t take long for the group to agree she’s earned at least quadruple respect.

    • Helicopters IC 15

    Burpee 6-Pack:

    • Mosey to the top of the hill by the tennis courts.
    • Do 1 burpee
    • Run to the bottom of the hill – touch the fence, run back up the hill.
    • Do 2 burpees.
    • Rinse and repeat until we have done a 6-pack of burpees.

  • Not the death run

10 men came out for a run. All right turns at Pump, Raintree, Falconbridge, (not ridge) and Pump. YHC had proposed a death run on Gayton, but fortunately that was vetoed.

  • We will meet at Bojangles.

Three Davillians met up at the Rutland Clubhouse before the one rucker and two runners departed. The question was: Dunkin or Bojangles? Along the 5.25 mile course that the runners ran, they only passed the rucker in one location, Bojangles. We will see next time if the same thing occurs.

COT: Numberarama, Name-O-Rama, Announcements, BAM! took us out.

    NMS:

Great job today everybody! Hoping for larger numbers with the end of the school year approaching.

  • Perfect 12

12 studs showed up on a beautiful morning for ultimate frisbee.

Warmarama on the field with stretching and merkins while DTH set up cones. The PAX were reminded most of them weren’t in their 30s anymore, so should check themselves before they wreck themselves on the field.

6 v. 6 using full length of football field, but about half of the width.

Each time point is scored: scoring team does 10 double count flutters, loser team does 3 burpees.

Score ended something like 7 to 5. Team Snip won of course (DTH, Last Call, Heisenberg, Tin Man, and Belay) despite his numerous horrendous throws.

Mosey BTTF for announcements and prayer. Remember Dealer in your prayers as he is dealing with an knee injury. Machine Head’s family will be welcoming a new baby soon, prayers for speedy and safe arrival.

Great work gents. Enjoyed spending time with you all in my happy place.

    MOLESKIN

YHC made a plan.  That plan required pre-prep (pumping up a basketball and planting it at the AO).  Oyster and Gumbo said f*ck your plan, as they stepped to the line with ice water in their veins and nailed the first 2 free throws of Burpee Ball.  YHC had planned on a solid 10 minutes or more of Burpees.  Plans sometimes require modification on the fly.  Or perhaps the best plan is no plan at all, right Handshake?  Special thanks to Snuff for planning and executing 2nd F coffee.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Summer Tour

  • OWN IT BRO!!!!

Sometimes…you just want to hear someone say it!!!

Boys of summer never disappoints. Today we were 14 strong who came out to battle the wet field left behind from yesterday’s storms. According to the Apples, here’s what went down.

    LIST OF TRANSGRESSIONS:

    Yips:
    – Rudy had bad posture, got his weight on his toes, and his bad form caused a light tap to feel like a big push

    Patriot Games:
    – Questionable End zone size & placement. This took two scores off the board for Festivus
    – Erroneous out-of-bounds calls to throw off rhythm
    – Futon with some very aggressive defensive chest bumping
    – Switched the ball at kick-off to a slicker, oddly colored ball
    – Rubbing the ball in the wet grass, falling a step behind…
    – Fandango not making a football move before securing the catch
    – Wanting to change the rules of BEATDOWN Currency

Luckily, fortune favors the bold and the Yips rose above it (just like Warby did in the back corner of the end zone) and came out victorious 9-6 (9-7?)

    Shoutouts:

    • Rudy had an early drop, the Yips did their battlecry and we could tell it was on like Donkey Kong from there!
    • Yips debuted a new uniform to the delight of many
    • Cookie had the best throw of the day!
    • Da Bear with a pick 6 – Freight train!
    • Boberry making plays all over the field
    • Duke needs to ice up his Nutzy tonight

Biggest success of the day was hearing that Big Rig’s mom’s scans came back clear, praise the Lord!

    Next week – Basketball!
