Logarithmic Gloomventures
A handsome SIX-PAX of SOJ ruck studs joined forces to conquer the latest stretch of track on the DTH pain train, this time accompanied by the F3-emblazoned 8’ 100# spruce log that we haven’t formally named yet, but PAX seem to mutter all kids of name suggestions when holding her…
The THANG:
- Welcome & Disclaimer
- Two HIM’s shoulder the log and the PAX set off around the lot past Trader Joes
- Log changes hands every ~150 yards
- Drop log at the Larus trailhead and continue rucking down Stony Point Rd to the bottom of Love Hill
- Run with rucks back to the top
- Ground rucks and stretch/breath
- Mosey back to bottom
- x5 Burpees and 50% run to top
- Flutters for the SIX
- Mosey to bottom
- x10 Squat Jumps
- Sprint to the top
- Stretch/Breath
- Rucks back on and ruck through Laris for about 20min, off trail for a bit and YHC magnificently wiping out in a muddy ditch
- Back to the road and re-shoulder the log
- BTTF sharing the log around

NMS: What an awesome way to start the day. YHC was super pumped to welcome BRONCO to the RVA GrowRuck platoon and introduce him to log carries, and during the course of the workout SCRAM decided he loved log carries so much he also HC’d to register – which he did today! He’s also quietly stated he’s just gonna be happy to have the DTH monkey off his back. 😝 Solid work by all the PAX and great coffeerama conversation after. Yours AYE! ~DTH

Squishy Back Noises
Seven men of questionable judgment posted forth in The Gloom to experience the pre-dawn mist that is First Watch. Temperatures remained 70 and sunny. According to Handshake’s high school sex crush, the following might have happened:
COP: mosey to the corner of Westam, South Ridge, and Cameron…50 SSHs, Dead Man Hang, downward dog, left leg high, right leg high, 10 hand-release merkins…
…mosey to the corner of South Ridge and Country Squire (coincidentally, Country Squire was Handshake’s nickname at VMI, and it’s inscribed on his travel sized Confederate Flag, handy for trips to foreign destinations, such as West Point, NY, USA). Semper paratus. YHC digresses… exercises included monkey humpers, squats, WWIIs.
…Mosey to South Ridge and Ross. Exercises included more hand release merkins, American Civil Wars (heels to Heaven plus a sit-up), and LBCs.
…Mosey to South Ridge and Overlook…more exercises, including merkins, Hello Dolly’s, and some other stuff.
…Mosey to the yellow sign most of the way down South Ridge for some other exercises…
…Mosey to the first of 6 signs at The Bottom of South Ridge (and emerge from the fog)…
Partner up for Partner Suicides.
Round 1: merkins and run to the first sign.
Round 1: WWIIs and run to the second sign.
Round 1: LBCs and run to the third sign.
Round 1: Monkey Humpers and run to the fourth sign.
Round 5: SSHs and run to the fifth sign.
Back up the hill…
…stopping at the sign (10 HRMs), the first street (10 HRMs and 20 WWIIs), the second street (10 HRMs, 20 SSHs, and 30 LBCs), and the fourth street (10 HRMs, 20 SSHs, 30 American Civil Wars, 40 LBCs).
BTTVSF.
Numbers, names, and YHC took us out.
Prayers for Charlotte, Fudd’s sister, and about 3 groups YHC didn’t catch.
Announcements: need a Q for Breaking Bread this weekend. If you have not done this, you should. This is F3RVA’s volunteer event…it has been for 9 years…YHC encourages you to sign up.
Update your emergency contact information on Slack.
NMS: Coffeeteria a good time as always. Some VMI stories from the 1980s sometimes sound like they could have been VMI stories from the 1880s.

Sticky
4 strong posted at WDOG this morning in the humid sticky gloom and here is how it went down.
Track work : 10 merkins – 10 sq’ts at each obstacle 2 laps around = 2 miles and 220 of each exercise.
Nice work today boys – strong mumble chatter – excellent way to start the day. See ya’ll in the gloom!

Round and Round We Go
8 men gathered in the Misty gloom (with Gloom) to run to Short Pump Park where we ran around the loop while doing different exercises from Salt Lick’s huge cardboard Wiki. (Had to reduce the count by 50% after the first two exercises). Hit the 3 mile mark and gloom struggled a bit with the humidity. Prayers for Pinto’s colleague going through tough times.

Spider Rain
A light mist present but 8 HIM’s arrived to UR for early morning PT. Old School routes chosen: all PAX run UR Drive to River Road, left on Road, through shopping center, across Huguenot Bridge and come down to Riverside Drive, Eastbound. 4 milers turn around at Custis. 5 milers turn around at Rock Falls Road. 6 milers turn at the old rock quarry.
BT, Swirly, and YHC enjoyed a brisk pace through eco-corridor down to Westhampton Parkway and back.

Pope Punk
This is the most challenging time in any man’s life: supporting his children + his aging parents, under the pressure to provide, childhood dreams ground to dust, waterboarded by a firehose of slop, watching the seas flow out towards the looming tsunami of AI disruption. It’s gotten so bad that even the Vatican has to release a statement claiming that the machines can’t think. Wrong. They can, but there is one AI can’t do: feel the suck.
Mosey to the wet fields (toll paid) where we lay down in wet grasses for LBCs and hand release mirkins and other warmarama. In order to feel something, anything.
Dora with some exercises. 21st century digital boy – is this song about me? The music was loud and punk is not dead. Mosey to the fence for some skatepark wall rides. Army crawl through 3 inches of water in the ditch. Feeling disgusting and miserable. One angry song’s worth of burpees. Another Dora.
“I’m hardly feeling human anymore. Enough to drag my body from the floor.”
Mosey back to the courts (toll paid) for some ab Mary. Wet, beat down, but human in the most alive way. Extremely human – now that is punk rock. Hypernormalisation can eat shit.
“A handful of redemption’s all we need.”
COT. Can a machine pray?

Back to School
8 men got together on a gloomy misty morning to return to school. After warmup subjects were English: Alphabet with our feet, Science: Monkey Humpers, Bear Crawls, and Crabwalks, Math: 7’s, Gym with a simulated Presidents Physical Fitness and Dodgeball where Joey Chestnut had an epic “Elf” style hit; History: with the Bataan Death Crawl and some El Chapos, lunch break with Erkins, Durkins, and Tap Dances, and an unusually long Sex Ed class at the end. Prayers for healing and for brining the best version of ourselves foward.

Memorial Day Convergence
66 on Memorial Day. If this wasn’t a record then it has to be close.
COP led by YHC with various exercises with an escalating Burpee after each exercise. 5 exercises followed by Burpees up to 5.
Count off in 4’s. Pax splits in 4 groups for 10-12 minute breakout groups: Mudslide, Snuff, Nancy Lopez, Tater.
Snuff Q – Triple Check on the Carillon steps and questionable dancing
Mudslide Q – Build a Beast repeats
Nancy Lopez – Jazzercise to Madonna’s “Like a virgin”
Tater Q – Thunderstuck Burpee-fest followed by Abs of Steel
Finish in front of the Carillon where Gomer Pyle spoke about the sacrifices our troops and we recognized the men and women the Pax knows who have lost their lives protecting our freedoms.
Mosey back to the flag for Numberama.
Announcements – L Woods food drive on June 13th, see Slack for details. Breaking Bread needs a Q for next weekend. The old-school Google Sheet with ICE information is going away for security reasons. Gypsy made a compelling plea for people to get Road ID’s, essentially you will die and we need to quickly let your M’s know. Flatline going away party this Friday 5/29 @ 4:00 pm at Twin Hickory Tavern.
Prayer Requests – non spoken
NMS – Great morning where the weather was unseasonably cool but we also missed the rain. Thank you for everyone who attended and for those that volunteered to participate.
***Many thanks to Offshore and Lighthouse for providing drinks and Bagels and Coffee**
