  • No Ruck Day

Two DaVille Runners and YHC who decided to pace walk today made to it to Tomato Run this morning.

YHC set a traditional route through Rutland, Knollwood, and Cool Spring West. The guys decided to add some trail run and got in close to 5 miles

YHC who was sick earlier in the week didn’t feel up for a run so instead did a walk but keep under 15 min mile pace and got in 3 miles

    nice morning for both choices.

  • Swim Teams, HOA’s, and Trash Services

3 runners and 2 ruckers got showed up for the second ruck and first run day of the week

Runners Route – Head over to the trail in Cool Spring Forest West then turning around and come back. We did and run/walk to get in 3.75 miles

    Ruckers did their thing

Title to the backblast said it all. Typical suburban Dad mumble chatter this morning

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • Hot Potato Run

YHC has been waiting for the chance for a hot potato run. Mr. Holland was good company as we navigated through the soupy air to the back of the new construction in Giles, returning via Craney Island Estates and Atlee Station, for between 4 and 4.5 miles. Two runners at the same pace made the hot potato route pretty simple to navigate, and we made it back to the start with a few minutes to spare. Corned Beef and Yardsale were organized and ready to go on their pre-planned ruck route, which means they made wrong turns, got maybe a bit lost, trespassed, met some chickens and a fortunately not-trigger-happy local resident, and were about 10-15 minutes late coming back to the start. YHC got in a bit more mileage looking for them. Numbers, names, and Yardsale took us out with a mention for our travelling Pax members.

  • Unannounced Route

4 runners as well as 3 Ruckers came out for a unknown run

    ROUTE

started with a little jog then stopping at the Atlee Library for sprints. Starting jogging again then other sprint stop at the Kroger parking lot. We then made 4 more stops at the Popeyes parking lot, Walgreens, cul-de-sacs off Rutlandshire and finished one last one at the clubhouse getting in still just under 4 miles

    Ruckers did their think

Nice 2nd F in between sprints

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • Misted Tomatoes

While two Davillians rucked, two others welcomed an SOJ visitor for his next summer tour date. Either the weather or ticket prices rivalling the Eras Tour may have kept more from attending. With out IT bands strung tight and all sound checks completed, we strummed our way through about 4.5 miles. Some of the hits heard by the ladies seen running with Marco Polo were about lotteries, bank examining, and boot camp induced aches and pains. After numbers and names, announcements included encouraging participation at the Bridge, Spit’s 400th Q tomorrow at the Creek, and YHC’s visiting Q at RAMM tomorrow. Opus took us out.

It was pleasant to have Heist travel up from SOJ to run with us north of the wall. We all need to work hard to keep up with the pace of his summer tour. It really is a great way to meet other Pax members.

  • You Say Tomato, I Say Jorts

4 Davillians welcomed 2 Jorts Wearing SOJ PAX for the following run. Spit helped State Farm and YHC get in a little extra to get 4 miles exactly. Speakeasy and Phonics were up ahead. Yard Sale started his ruck at 5 am. Good times were had by all!

Below is a snapshot of the Route. Here’s the specific directions : From the Clubhouse, take a Left then take a Right on Combs Dr, Right on Oakham Dr, Left on Colvincrest Dr, Left on Hughesland Rd, Left on Crestfield Dr, Left on Combs Dr, Stop at Oakham Dr intersection to complete 1 Lap.  If you complete 3 Laps then head BTTF you’ll get 3.81 miles in. If you complete 4 Laps then head BTTF you’ll get 4.88 miles in.

  • Run/Walk Special

5 runners and 1 Rucker dismiss the haze and came out for another tomato run

The night before Opus suggested a 4 minute run and 45 sec walk set so the PAX. YHC lead the PAX through Rutland, Kroger, and Bojangles loops to us 4 miles

Felt good to take it a littler easier that morning

  • Looks like a Tuesday Run

6 Davillians including a FNG. Got out on the first day of the month for the mid week run.

Route – Run the Atlee HS and did the school loop and came back via the Bojangles loop for just over 4 miles. Some took a few roads to get in 4.5.

Welcome to Scantron. Scantron works for the Virginia Department of Education. He used to be a teacher and AP in Hanover.

  • The 30 and 50 Somethings

7 men in their 30’s and 50’s along with 2 of Man’s Best Friends, enjoy closer morning for a Rucking and Running

Route – Include a transitional start of during down Oakham then heading down the small loop of Fox Hill but instead of the full loop we took the trail around the pond to Rutlandshire. After a loop around the libarty and PBR we headed up the Bojangles loop/Atlee Rd and turn right onto Cool Spring R.

Typically we cant run down Cool Spring Rd due lack of light and only being able to run on the shoulder of the road but during these earlier morning daylights we get the rare chance

After a full loop around Cool Spring Forest Trail we finished the traditional way back into Rutland coming down Crestfield and Combs getting in 4.25 to 4.5 miles

    Ruckers did their thang

Glad to have Handshake joins us again

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • Chicanery

Mr. Holland correctly interpreted the strange, short route as a sign of impending chicanery in the form of 400m repeats on Chickahominy Middle School’s cinder track. In my defense, the route was not so subtly entitled, “Clubhouse to track” on the map. With a 1.3 mile warmup/cool down to and from the track, the PAX all completed 4-5 repeats with some additional jogging or walking mixed in. It was especially impressive to watch two respectful members of the running Pax dusting two of in our 30s on the final 400. I appreciate all of you for following me and pushing me through this workout, which I dislike and rarely do on my own. The ruckers rucked their way through Cool Springs West. Numbers, names, discussion of the Memorial Day Convergence, and then Opus took us out.
