  • Foggy Tunnel

4 of the usuals made it through the fog and posted at The Tunnel. After an extended warm up of stretching, we had an incremental Burpee walk through the tunnel (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) to warm up.

Next was The Tunnel’s version of 4 Corners with 25 Dips, WWIIs, Squats, and Carolina Dry Docks…with 25 Burpees sprinkled in between the corners.

Headed to pavilion for 25 two count Step Ups, Dips, and Derkins. Then a Polar Bear Crawl through the parking lot and a mosey back for a series of Abs (25 Irish Hammers, 25 Rosalitta/Dollys, 25 Heals, and 25 Side Crunches).

    A little more stretching…and we’re done.

  • Green Gate Gauntlet

We ventured off campus this morning through the Green Gate Gauntlet…10 Merkins per light post, 25 WWIIs and Carolina Dy Docks if light wasn’t working.

Arrived at Green Gate for Triple Check of: Lunges, Squats and Runs. Went around the corner in front of the exercise studio for a series Heals to Heaven, Crunchy Frogs, American Hammers, and Irish Hammers. Around the corner for another Triple Check of: Merkins, Carolina Dry Docks, and Runs.

Headed back to AO with a new set of exercises every light post: 10 Copper Head Squats, 10 Lunges each leg, 10 two-count Ukranians, 10 Squats, then a series of 1, 2, 3, and 4 Burpees.

Finished with our 3rd Triple Check of Crunchy Frogs, Heels to Heaven, and a Run.

  • Grid Iron’s NFL Draft

    • 5th Pick Arvell Reese had 6 sacks (6 Burpees)
    • 6th Pick Manson Delane allowed only 10 catches last season (10 yard Bernie with 10 Side Straddle Hops, for the length of the Grid Iron)

      • 4.46 40 yard dash (Bear Crawl for 40 yards)

Took a “break” with Abs (American Hammers, Irish Hammers, Side Crunches), then the Grid Iron 91 March with 10 exercises every 10 yards and another round of Abs (American Hammers, Irish Hammers, Flutter Kicks, Heels to Heaven, and more)

  • TJ3

Seven of us posted at The Deep to celebrate our 3rd President’s BDay, Mr. Thomas Jefferson. So we did plenty of Triple Checks.

Grinder-Triple Check of Mike Tyson’s, Burpees, and a run up the hill.

Triple Check of Dips, Step-Ups and Derkins

Triple Check of Wide Grip Merkins, Lunges, and a lap around the track

Took a break with 10 Irish Hammers, 20 WWIIs, 30 Crunch Frogs, and 40 Side Crunches.

Ended with a Ring of Fire with 3 of your favorite Merkins.

  • The Deep’s History Lesson

April 6. This date in history…

1924: 4 planes went around the globe, so we went around the school, stopping at every door for 4 Merkin variations.

1917: US entered WWI. So we did 19 American Hammers and 17 WWIs

1948: Soviets marked the undisputed attainment of the North Pole, so 19 Dips and 48 Step Ups

1909: Peary claimed to reach the North Pole, so 9 runs up the hill (5 forward and 4 Bernie’s)

1896: First modern Olympics, so we did a Triple Check of Track and Field (Jog around the track), Cycling (Freddie Mercury), and Wrestling (Carolina Dry Docks)

1939: Royal Huddleston Burpee Sr created the Burpee, so we did Burpees every other pole on the colonnade (about 20). Actually it wasn’t this date, but I like doing Burpees. 🙂

Finished off with Abs by the American Flag. American Hammers, Heals to Heaven, Irish Hammers and Flutter Kicks

  • 4-4-1968

Historical trivia day at Grid Iron…with plenty of 4, 4, 19 and 68 counts. (Read to the bottom for the relevance of this date). After warm up we had a mosey to the field but stopped at benches for: 4 Dirkins, 4 Squats, 19 Chair Sits, 68 Side Straddle Hops.

To the field for 4 Corners (prostitute style) with: 4 Burpees, 4 Diamond Merkins, 19 WWIIs, and 68 Flutter Kicks.

Dora with 100 Merkins, 200 Lunges, and 300 Calf Raises.

Took a break with 100 Abs (4 count of WWIs, Side Crunches, and WWIIs).

4 Burpees, 4 Diamonds, 19 WWIIs, and 62 Flutter Kicks before we left the field for the benches for: 4 Dirkins, 4 Burpees, 19 Dips and 68 LBCs.

To the playground for Gomer led Up-Downs, followed by Irish Hammers, American Hammers, and brief stretching.

All of this 4-4-1968…recognition of the day Dr. MLK Jr was assassinated.

  • Ate something wrong…

Four of us posted at The Tunnel this AM for a warm Spring morning. However some of us (you can guess) ate something wrong…as we found out during our 200 Ab exercises.

After warm up, headed to Tunnel for an incremental set of Burpees (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), then 7’s at the hill (Mike Tyson’s and Merkins). Took a break with 100 Abs (4 25 count of WW IIs, Side Crunches, and Crunchy). At this point somebody may have crapped their pants.

Lindsey of Dips and Step Ups (decrease by 5), followed by another break of 100 Abs (WW Is, Knee Ups, American Hammers, Irish Hammers). Back through the Tunnel for a decline Burpee march (5, 4, 3, 2, 1).

Playground for 3 rounds of Pull-Ups, Carolina’s, Dips, and Squats. Ring of Fire, stretching…and a Burpee to end the morning.

  • Eight is Enough

Cold morning but 8 posted at Tunnel Vision for a good work out…including Beaver who drove all the way in from New Kent. Nice.

Warm up, followed by a Tunnel Walk (1 Burpee at light 1, 2 Burpees at light 2, etc. until 5). Then 4 Corners (25 Dips, 25 Carolina’s, 25 WWIIs, and 25 Squats)…with 5 Burpees at the center. (That should be 40 Burpees so far).

Picnic benches for a Lindsey (Dips and Step ups). Whitesnake requested we do a Bear Crawl through the parking lot as we headed to our Quadruple Check (Squats, WWIIs, Merkins and a Run).

Playground for 2 rounds of Steps Ups, Dips, and Squats…for as long as a group took to do 10 Pull Ups.

Attila insisted that we finish with Abs ;-). So 50 American Hammers, 10 Irish Hammers, 20 Heals to Heaven, and 10 WWIs to finish off the morning.

  • Presidents Day at The Deep

5 posted for a President’s Day themed workout this morning. Warm up and then Presidential trivia workout. If you’re reading this, see if you can guess the significance of the numbers. Correct answers at the bottom of the post 😉

1 Burpee, 2 Carolina Dry Docs , 5 Squats, 10 Merkins, 20 WWIIs, 50 single count American Hammers, and 100 Calf Raises.

Around the circle to stop at 8 lights for 8 cumulative exercises for an 8 count of: Burpees, Merkins, Carolina Dry Docks, Jump Squats and Don Q’s.

As we guessed the significance of 8, we did a few punitive Burpees until we got to 47.

To the colannade and the polls and an Indian Run of: 8 Pole Smokers, 8 Boxing Cockroaches, 8 Mike Tysons, 8 Air Press, 8 Muhammad Ali’s, 8 Head-Should-Knees and Toes…repeat until we ran out of poles.

Mosey back for some stretching, counting and more trivia.

    Answers to trivia below:

    47 Burpees: (US 47th President)

    1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100: US Bills with Presidents (1: Washington, 2 Jefferson, 5 Lincoln, 20 Jackson, 50 Grant) and Founding Fathers (10 Hamilton, and 100 Franklin).

8 Burpees: 8 Presidents from Virginia (Washington, Jefferson, Maddison, Monroe, Harrison, Tyler, Taylor, Wilson).

  • Frozen Tundra of the Grid Iron

With a 1 degree windchill and a frozen tundra, 4 of us managed to workout at the pickle ball stadium and playground (a little more protection from the wind).

Warm up and 5 Burpees to get the blood flowing. Then to pickle ball stadium for: 4 Corners prostitute style with 5 Burpees, 10 Merkins, 15 Squats, and 20 WWIIs. Then a Lindsay of Step Ups and Dips, followed by a Triple Check of Run, Dirkins, and Step Ups.

Playground for some Ground and Pound: 5 Burpees, 200 Abs (10-25 of: Crunchy, American Hammers, Knee Ups, WWIIs, WWIs, Heals to Heaven, Side Crunch, Irish Hammers, V-up Roll Ups, Box Cutters, and LBCs). Jack Web (1 Merkin to 4 Air Presses) to give Abs a break. Then finished off with 2 rounds of 5 Burpees, 10 Squats, 15 Carolina Dry Docks, and 20 Side Straddle Hops.

Stretched, gave thanks, and went to coffee.
