  • SNAKE!!!!!!!!

Five posted for running and rucking to Atlee High School on this Tuesday. According to the copperhead which was trampled by BAM! this morning during our run, this is what occurred.

The Ruckers took the less adventurous route and did not do trail exploration.

The runners went on their 3rd straight week of trail exploration. This week, the trails of Giles were selected. The reviews of the trails were positive and could possibly be attempted with a headlamp during darker mornings. The runners covered 4.6 miles and saw a great amount of wildlife including birds, squirrels, many rabbits, 3 deer including 2 which crossed the road right in front of us. And then there was the snake.

YHC noticed a snake in the road probably 15 yards ahead. He then said to BAM!, “SNAKE”. BAM! kept running apparently unaware that the snake was there. As the runners got close, the snake which YHC believes was a copperhead, turned its head to acknowledge and possibly intimidate BAM!. BAM! never saw the snake and kept running, stepping on the snake, and kept going.

The snake was gone when both runners came back through. That was probably the most rememberable F3RVA animal encounter that YHC can remember since the bootcamp at Pole Green Park many years ago when Rosie almost ran into a skunk. Rosie survived that encounter as well.

COT: Numberarama, Name-O-Rama, Announcements, BAM! took us out.

    NMS

YHC had thoroughly enjoyed the June trail exploration runs that has been made over the past 3 weeks. Might have one more week before we return to normal runs. Today is likely the most wildlife that YHC has seen in a neighborhood. Pretty cool.

It was great having Bulkhead back today from India. The joke was how much the DaVillians had aged since he last posted.

  • Westhoe HR Derby (SOJ Warm Up)

13 ball players met at the plush fields of Tuckahoe Little League and according to the groundskeeper this is what happened.

About 9 of us formed up in the right field corner for some stretching and warm up. 4 LIFOs came out of the woods before the hitting (or attempted hitting) began.

Offshore lead things off by trying out all the bats but still not hitting a HR. Handshake popped out to third base which caused YHC to find the mud and take a spill. Then, it was a parade of “outs” and burpees until Roger Roger finally showed us the way and launched a HR. Pitifully, RR won both rounds 1 and 2 with the only HRs in each round.

In the final, lightening round, Rosie managed to golf one out and YHC hit 2. BT wins for most foul balls or long, foul outs.

Not a wonderful display of hitting today, and not a beatdown of a workout, but it sure was fun to get on the field and play for a while.

Next opportunity to hit some balls and show your glove skills will be July 14 at Huguenot Little League – SOJ HR Derby.

Announcements: 3 days of summer tour. Get your miles in from Woodshed to New Kent. See Slack.

  • We Are Young

15 of the most youthful, spry and innocent men came to exercise their vitality in the cool morning breeze.

Mosey to the fields for a warmarama: SSHs, DQs, arm circles, mountain climbers, mirkins, heels to heaven, Rosalitas, Dolly’s, etc etc.

Triple check timer runs the field, step up on the bleachers and WW2s.

Mosey to the back corner lot for another triple check, timer runs to the dumpster and karate kicks it, pole smokers and Carolina dry docks.

Parking space lunges ascending squats to 10. Ran it back with parking space bear crawl ascending mirkins.

    4 corner audible: 10 burpees, 20 v-ups, 30 jump squats, 30 Flutters.

Mosey back for a half Dora, timer runs to the water tower, hand release mirkins and American Hammers.

Back to the flag for a small burpee blitz until the end of the song. Thankfully it wasn’t one of those super long electronic ones and the workout was over.

Shoutout to Doozy’s M for completing the Master Hiker achievement. Welcome back to Destiny’s Child who may or may not have been there to drop recycling but joined in for the fun – good to see you.

Good numbers, great morning. COT. Release your worries to the wind.

  • World Class Jump Roping

    • Corner 4 – Carolina Dry Docks

COT: Numberarama, Name-O-Rama, Announcements, Trail Mix took us out.

    NMS

It was a great morning at DaVile this morning. YHC had no idea that Macho is a possible professional Jump Roper. While the other 4 were struggling, he was jumping while crossing his arms, jumping backwards, and other party type jump rope tricks. Pretty cool.

YHC learned over the weekend that watching the World Cup on Telemundo is the way to watch. YHC does not understand Spanish, but the excitement in the language is more impactful to this viewer than what is being said. YHC does not know the players and does not need an explanation of the rules. Telemundo is the way to watch.

    Announcements

    • Bulkhead should be back tomorrow. I hope your travels back to DaVille go well.

  • Tour De Rountrey

A wiseman once told me that you should be stretched and ready to go at 5:30. Today we put that to the test!

At 5:30 we had 11 people, and by 6:15 we had 13 – not bad!

Indian run from the clubhouse, to the end of Litton, and around the corner just a bit. Last man 1 burpee run to front. PAX was happy to find a stash of cinder blocks and sandbags.

All you need is one Triple Check – team up!
    P1 – 8x curls, 8x overhead press, 8x skullcrushers
    P2 – 10 HRM, 15X CDD, 30x Mountain Climbers
P3 – Grab the sandbag and run to a Point of Interest (POI), drop sandbag and run back to team.

P1 & P2 would take a rest between sets because P3 had a bit of a distance to run…Once the group rallied, run to the sandbag and bring your block. Rotate at next POI.

Notable POI: Started around toby’s house, Close to Rudy’s house (close enough to know he was sleeping comfortably), Pink door house, new modern home, random intersection, BTTF, and one more top of the hill and back for good measure.

The PAX still had some fight left in them so we did a second indian run through the bunker.

YHC finished it off with 4 minutes of stretching.

BOS finale Thursday. 6/25 7-9pm X GOLF – all are welcome
    7/4 Convergence GRIDIRON 7am – be there!

  • Deep Potato

We had Seven today. “Who’s the Q?” was screamed with the same passion as Brad Pitt from that great movie.

No one signed up so it was a Deep Potato. Whitesnake started with warmups. Mr Rogers took the batton and took us to the loading dock with a few different running exercises and then 11’s of jump squats on the ground and Mike Tysons on the dock. Chicharon took over and did doors around the school with Squats, WW2 and Merkins, going up in count and doubled when double doors. Seymor then took us to the track for a triple check of squats and penguins. It got cut a little short due to time as we had to head back to the flag. Seymor took us out.

Hope everyone has a great week!
