Tuckahoe Elementary

  • Better than Florida

Three dudes converged on Hoedown without a designated Q as Spring Break is in full effect for many. After deciding Tuckahoe surely had better weather than anywhere sunny and warm, a hot potato was called and here’s a little sample of how it went.

Garbage Plate kicked off with a warm up and slightly discombobulated set of 11’s

Salt Lick led bench exercises, a set of US state themed Mary and a good bit of running.

Data closed out the morning with some jerkins and a wicked frog hop rotation.

Numberama, namerama, a few announcements and YHC took us out.

It was a pleasure to kick the week off right with you all! Until next time, GP

  • Day 1 – Jazz Flute

Hoedown is where it all started. On a cool March morning in 2018, 6 weeks after my second child was born. I don’t remember much of the actual workout but I do remember having to crawl through a tight Crawlspace during my first appointment and my arms and chest were so sore and by 2:00 I was ready for a nap.The amazing thing is of the 12 guys at that workout 9 are still regulars. One has moved and two no longer post.

YHC has decided to make a week of it and Q Monday-Friday. It’ll be hard to think of new and exciting things to do each day, but YHC will try.

As the clock struck 0530 Vandalay and Oyster were exiting their cars. We made our way down Hepler for a COP.

Mosey from Hepler back to the mini loop at Hoedown for a Triple Check. P1 HRM’s, P2 WWII’s, P3 Run the loop. 3 rounds.

Mosey to the Third Church Parking Lot to recover the Coupons. Get back in your Triple Check groups. After a failed attempt to do something on the fly YHC audibled to something easier to describe.

We finished with a Coupon Handoff. 12 guys circled up, a Block every third man. Block Man completes 10 of a exercise and the other two men complete a different exercise.

Mosey back to the flag to close out the beat down.

Announcements – Breaking Bread. Saltlick has this month but we need a Q for next month. The Bridge is open for March, check the Q sheet and grab some friends.

Prayer Requests – Upchucks friends that are battling illness and unfortunately nearing the end.

NMS – fun morning with 12 of the best people to hangout with 0530 on a Monday morning at an Elementary School. Excited to start off my 8 year celebration where it all started.

  • A very F3 Birthday

11 men met in a dark, cold, semi-wet parking lot on YHC’s birthday. YHC’s clock showed him as being 31 seconds to the workout, but YHC guesses others aren’t on Apple Standard Time.

Quick Mosey to catch up with the Pax and circle back from a COP. COP consisted of various exercises then sets of 5 Burpees to make our way to 42 to represent YHC’s age (with a bonus Burpees for the start of YHC’s 43rd year).

Mosey to the Third Church Parking lot by Bodo’s office to grab the Cinderblocks. Get in groups of 2. P1 does an exercise and P2 runs the lot, this happens 6-7 times. Switch to P1 doing an exercise and P2 Squats, do this another 4-5 times. Put blocks away and do some Mary (Flutters, WWII’s, LBC’s).

Mosey back to Hoedown lot, 20 HRM’s, times up.

Announcements – Breaking Bread. Gumbo and Splinter too this Saturday/Sunday, but next month is open.

NMS – F3 Birthdays are unlike another other. They start with advance thought to sign up to Q. Then you post on Slack to hype your own Q. The morning of rather than enjoy some extra sleep on your special day you wake up uncomfortably early to lead a bunch of grown men in a workout. Lastly once this is all complete you then have to write about it on the internet. That all being said we love them. Thanks to everyone for making it out to celebrate 42 years on this earth. YHC is thankful for these men.

  • I’m not the Alpha, Google me!

5 regulars and an FNG that EH’ed himself made their way through the Gloom on a wet post rain morning. Pigskin was feeling under the weather and offered up the Q which YHC picked up.

All are grateful for the warmth of fitness and fellowship.

  • When the county does not clear the parking lot you can always count on the Presbyterians

Six salty stalwarts answered the call to post at Hoedown. With the TES lot a skating rink all the PAX found their way to the 3rd Prez parking lot for the beatdown.

Start off heading over to TES to look for anyone who might have gone to the normal spot, catch Handshake pulling into 3rd’s lot for the COP:

SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, LBCs, Merkins, Flutterkicks. Mosey to other lot for a Triple check: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, run the full lot. Back over to YHCs truck to pickup frozen Coupons. Partner up for a Dora: 100 Presses, aka thrusters, 200 block presses, 300 Block swings while partner runs the lot.

With 6 why not another Triple check: Block lunges, WWIIs, run out of lot over to TES and back. Finish with another loop of 3rd and 2 min of Mary. An angel opened up the 3rd lobby for an indoor COT and coffee.

    Announcements: Frozen Triangle this weekend.

NMS: Without the wind the 12 degrees was not too bad, and 50% of the PAX were SOP! Thanks to Bodos and the 3rd staff for clear and safe parking lots. The indoor COT and coffeteria were a great way to start the week and month. Considering the weather not much doubt whether Groundhog day means 6 more weeks of winter.

  • So Many Possibilities

Joey Chestnut arose to hear someone else’s alarm going off and was greeted downstairs by Offshore… the same Offshore who basically ran a marathon the day prior. Joey did not expect to be accompanied by his lone counterpart but was appreciative of the company and dadication nonetheless.

With less-than-ideal road conditions, the two set off on a mosey to the AO, arriving about five minutes late. After realizing no one else was around, Joey took the Q with Offshore providing ideas along the way.

    Warmarama:

The mosey to the AO had us mostly warm, but we hit a brief warm-up of:

    • Imperial Walkers

    • Dips

    • Merkins

    • Heels to Heaven

    • LBCs

    • APDs

Joey quickly realized this would be the only time spent on our six.

    The “beatdown”:

A short mosey took us to the upper playground monkey bars, where one PAX performed squats while the other knocked out pull-ups on each bar. We rotated through this for two rounds.

After a trek across the field, we completed a couple sets of 10 derkins and 20 dips. At this point, Joey Chestnut was mesmerized by all the room for activities, yet constrained by the elements.

We returned toward the monkey bars for 3 sets of 8 jerkins, followed by 10 box jumps on nearby playground equipment.

Next came 3 sets of 12 incline merkins, alternating with step-ups on a nearby bench. We then switched locations and repeated incline merkins where step-ups were previously performed, and vice versa.

With only a few minutes left, we hit the blacktop for sumo squats and a burpee (performed at a safe speed), because what’s an F3 workout without at least one burpee?

    Wrap up:

A final mosey led us to the walkway, where we plank-walked along the rails with a bear crawl back to the top before heading the opposite direction and ending in COT.

Prayers were lifted for a safe mosey home and for those in need of extra love and care during this winter weather.

Special appreciation for Offshore’s dadication to show up and show out. Technically Joey Chestnut’s first solo Q, and hopefully the first of many — Joey may need to revisit Hoedown soon with some new ideas.
