30 minute trail run prior to Rock N Roll

A blast of cold came upon us, yet did not deter from getting out there for another Saturday morning ruck. Big Rig is in marathon training so he had the run part going, we ventured up and down the path using the hills as a way to strengthen the legs plus mind. There’s has been work with getting rid of dead trees and smoothing out the hill nearest to the far end(fact there’s a nice pile for training). The highlight was as we made a turn, someone was enjoying a little alone time, when he saw the lights come around,…

As YHC is getting further into marathon training, the long runs keep getting longer and longer, it sure is nice having some company for these runs Got to catch up with Boberry for about 5 miles, i think, for the second week in a row and chat about what we have going on, coming up (Boberry has The Willis River Fat Ass Trail Run, which is free btw. As well us training for GTE. YHC has a marathon to be named later) and previous experiences (Boberry’s Blue Ridge Relay) We took a pit stop at about 555 to cool down…

A crowd of SIXTEEN mother ruckin heroes stormed the dark paths of Rockwood keeping a 14.5min/mile pace with a few stops to stay together and stretch. Mudslide again provided the course, and a total of 3.2 miles was achieved in about 50min of rucking. Big welcome to a few new ruckers – Meatball, The Block, Tobit and McRib. And welcome back to Doublemint who’s been away too long. LOVE the energy this GrowRuck is spurring in our Region – let’s keep it going and get everyone Registered for GTE#47! !REGISTER HERE! — https://growruck.com/event/gte-47/ TOMORROW (Sun 1/14, 0600) RUCK at Pump…

A dozen hardened SOJ vets gave Rockwood the Morning Wood salute, with 9 GTE HIM’s Rucking 3.6 miles, Boberry joining Big Rig completing a pre-gloom half marathon (no big deal…), and State Farm getting swolt on the pull-up bars working on his “grip strength” …if that’s not the perfect Morning Wood joke, not sure what is… Anyway, way to get after it this morning gentlemen! SYITG, DTH TOMORROW: 7am Ruck kicks off at the Stone House at Forrest Hill Park, coffee after REGISTER FOR GTE #47 !!! https://growruck.com/event/gte-47/

6 early rising HIM came out to Rockwood park for pre beatdown ruck/run/hardest mile training session. Big Rig set it off and was later joined by Rosie for a run. Mudslide got in a ruck while YHC rucked for an hour and joined Chaplain for a run. Hardywood prepped for the hardest mile by getting in a run, some lung walking, bear crawling, and broad jump burpees. Morning Wood had it all this morning. Great work fellas. Looking forward to next week! House Party

Two early risers decided to hit Rockwood Park for some early morning miles. YHC did some rucking while Big Rig did some running. While YHC was solo, Big Rig had his four legged companion with him to join in on his run. I’m sure even with 4 legs, he had a hard time keeping up with Big Rig. House Party

YHC decided to get an early morning start at 5am and do a little running with Big Rig. 6am hits and now its time for some Rucking with Broadway. Great way to start the morning. It was brutal but as always, great fellowship. House Party

After a brief stretch and strapping on the vest, YHC noticed no other Pax would be joining for the ruck so I audibled to a run with Big Rig. Mumble chatter included our Thanksgiving holiday, football, and how critical it is to have a good, quality shoe when running or rucking. YHC learned the hard way on our 10 mile Ruck for Food. Always enjoy running and catching up with Big Rig. His fitness journey is a great motivator. House Party

Well, after our ruck we decided a little stretching out was in order. The temps were in the 50s(which is kind of rare) we were able to go onto the courts for a nice broga workout. The idea to work everything from top to bottom(we needed to when the main workout came up) plus show a new method to get into a stretch that for some is difficult. A total of 15 minutes, we felt better and ready to go for what was to be the Army Physical Fitness Test

One runner and two ruckers rose bright and early to get the juices flowing before Broga and a Ponch beatdown. Weather conditions were ideal considering the recent 30 degree temps. Big Rig got in his early morning miles. Always great to ruck with Mudslide although YHC has to work double time and can still barely keep up. House Party
