5 veterans posted on this beautiful and cool morning for some flat time trials at River Run. YHC charted an almost 2-mile loop and challenged the PAX to complete as many loops as possible in 45 minutes. Rosie took off like he was shot our of a canon and completed 3+ loops and more than 6 miles. Swiper and Honeymoon deviated from the course a bit here and there and completed just under 6 miles. YHC and Singer kept a strong hold on the six and logged just under 5 miles. Well done by all. No more Gumbo for you!
A magnificent 7 showed up for a surprise Lockjaw Q as part of Tuckahoe Takeover. The route took us across the road to Twin Team, on Brigstock, a few minor turns, and back to Brigstock for the home approach down Twin Team. No one got lost for very far. YHC took us out. NMS: YHC plotted this route without consulting a topographical map nor realizing how truly dark it is out here. When Lugnut arrived, YHC went over the intended route and it was conveyed that this was the unintended 9 mile route earlier in the summer. As the rest…
4 Stalwarts posted in the gloom this morning to fight through the swampy and foggy air and retake the Hills of Tarrington. 1 LIFO was mistaken for a different PAX member who knew the traditional route, so he was left in the dust to chart his own path in the darkness. All was well as the PAX reconvened at the flag for COT and for YHC to take us out. Mileage varied from 4 – 5 miles. When YHC pulled into the parking lot at 0515 to secure the AO, he found a woman waiting in her car to meet friends…not…
3 vets posted for River Run this morning – 2 beasts working out the lactic acid from BRR and YHC determined to start getting his running legs back. Expecting a light crew and possibly some BRR survivors, YHC decided today would be a Hill Holiday. Instead, we hit the track and put in some flat miles (about 3.8 in total) with 3 brief pain stops (25 merkins and 25 LBCs) at random intervals. After returning back to the flag with 10 minutes to go, we did some COP (Slow Imperial Walkers, cotton pickers and stretching) and some Mary – Rocky…
4 strong mosey into the darkness The thang Mosey through Tarrington up Robious across to Ellmsere take a right, through cul-de-sac back around to Brigstock over the bridge through the field …… and back to Bettie Weaver. Moleskin The plan was a nice easy tapering run to break in some new shoes in preparation for the BRR. Nearly a fail on all accounts. YHC shoes immediately created blisters limiting the run to more damage control than proper tapering. And the direction’s given to the speedy pax left out a couple of small turns. Ultimately all returned on time for a…
4 strong answered the bell on an awesome Monday morning! The Thang The traditional route through Tarrington with the 5 milers making the loop and 4 miler proceeding immediately up Ashwell. Turn left on Robious and right on Ellesmere. Follow to Brigstock and turn RIGHT. Left onto Twin Team and back to Bettie Weaver. Moleskin In an effort to redeem oneself for the Q where the PAX got lost and ran roughly 9 miles trying to find their way back to the AO, YHC plotted the path for a repeato! Success at last, all members of the PAX returned safely and…
As BRR approaches 4 pavement pounders headed out toward Gumbo’s house on a rollercoaster of fun. The route was the Rollercoaster into River Downs, back to Gumbo’s cul-de-sac and back home. Add hills where desired to double back or cut short as needed. Had YHC listened to the latest podcast before the run I may have backed off and and talked to Lugnut about the tactical driving experience. I have not made it through the whole thing but the first half created a lot of questions I wish I had before the run. Wedding Singer is ready for the BRR,…
3 BRR trainees posted at RiverRun for some early week hills on a sunny and 70 morning. The route is the standard Riverton into Tarrington, Ashwell Loop down Twin Team. Only this time instead of adding a loop around the school, add Twin Team until time is up. Unfortunately we only got 1 time up Twin Team before it was time to head back to the VSF. Quick countarama/namearama to get the PAX off on their day. We almost lost EF Hutton in a hole coming through the gap in the woods. It was a new location Honeymoon had found.…
Five strong mosey into the gloom for what was intended to be a rather simple loop. The Thang The traditional route through Tarrington with the 5 milers making the loop and 4 milers proceeding immediately up “pain in the Ashwell hill”. Turn left on Robious and right on Ellesmere. Follow to Brigstock and turn RIGHT. Left onto Twin Team and back to Bettie Weaver. Moleskin With the SOJ crew spread across the AO’s YHC was not expecting a large turnout today on the home turf. YHC was pleasantly surprised however to see Phonics and Lab Rat at the AO. After learning the mighty…
