two gentleman set out to find out the answer to this question. As well as “how early is too early?” “On a Saturday?” “Was this a good idea?” “Is this fun?” “Are we going to make it back on time?” “Is 12/mile reasonable for an overall pace on a trail run?” Answers were deemed to be yes it’s a pre-run, before 430, yes on a Saturday, it was an idea, yes, we did somehow, yes but only by pushing it when the trail opens up. Got it a little over 10k. Great to catch up with Big Rig. Glad to…
Two posted on a beautiful Friday morning. For those of your who overslept, you missed the Celestial Smiley Face. Truthfully we were a little late, we could only see the smile and one eye (planet). The other eye was below the tree line. When it’s just 2 of us, I like to wing it a little. After warming up with the regulars like SSH’s, LBC’s, Don Quixote’s, Hand Release Merkins, Arm Circles, etc. We did a little 4 corners of the parking lot. 1st corner was 25 copperhead squats, 2nd corner was 25 abs (flutter kicks, heals to heaven, etc…).…
Thirteen, that’s right, thirteen of the hoe’s and near-hoe’s finest, gathered in the fading gloom for this week’s iteration of Hoedown. After the celebration of Oyster’s arrival, we avoided the petting zoo gifts and mosey’d to the front of the school for: COP 25x SSH 10x DQ 20x Copperhead Squats 20x LBCs 10x HRMs 10x Mountain Climbers 10x Side (not front) lunges The Thang Mosey back to the top of Lindsay Ct and partner up. With odd numbers, YHC joined forces with NTB and Señor Frog. Inverse love hill. Partner 1 runs to the bottom and back while partner 2…
80% of the Splinter clan planned and participated in this past Sunday’s Breaking Bread. Last minute commitments prevented us from breaking bread with them, only drop off and setup this time around. 2.0s planned, shopped, prepared, cooked, packaged, and served this week. YHC was only required for transportation. Meal was parmesan crusted chicken, asparagus, french bread, caesar salad, and cookie brownies for dessert. A fun time was had by all.

One rucker and the rest runners; off we went on our routes. All distances were covered.
According to the school alarm that our hotness turned off, we did the following: Warmed up near the front door with an assortment of exercises including SSH, DQ, Merkins, Helicopters, Reverse Crunches and Suzanne Somers. We then moseyed to the back picnic tables and did elevens–starting with ten dips, ran up the hill to the blacktop and did one Hand Release Merkin. That hill is no joke. Next we did four Abs corners in honor of our missing leader Tater: corner 1: 20 Heals to Heaven; corner 2: 30 two count Hammers; corner 3: 40 two count Flutters; corner 4:…
said the Big Herm to the YHC. Handshakes introduced Alamo this workout, today we carried on the tradition only this time with slightly larger blocks. Mosey lap around the pool for a quick warmup and stretch and got ready for some fun. Partner up and each team grabs a block. P1 runs to far end of parking lot and back while P2 does an exercise. Move up one parking space and switch. Rinse and repeat until we get to the far end. 5 exercises were Standing Side Bends, Curls, Overhead Press, Squats, Kettlebell Swings YHC and Futon had a title…
YHC was ready for a great morning with the Bridge residents to lead a workout and had two stops to pick up others from RVA for the ride out to Buckingham, VA. Here is what went down. Had a 5:15am pick up of Surf n Turf at Food Lion in DaVille, then a 5:45 pickup on Route 60/288 at the Wawa where Pucker jumped in for a ride. We waited until 6 am with no others showing up we were off. We arrived at the AO about 15 minutes early so we took some time to visit the recently completed…
10 dudes, sporting 20 working legs and 2 failing legs, ran (or rode) into the “GLORIOUS” morning for the latest edition of Sunday Funday. Temperatures remained stable at precisely 70 and sunny. According to the same young lady running with her dog, the following disparate routes might have happened: Sunday Funday often starts with a question: “What time does the 7 o’clock run start?” Yep, time to mosey. The main pack did the Bridge (not THAT Bridge, but nonetheless a bridge) across to Buttermilk, then east to Belle Isle. Roll over the river. Back on The North Bank. 6.6 miles.…
