Always 70 and Sunny

Fresh off the Annual Iron Chef competition (Saturday), nine food prospectors assembled in this evening’s edition of Breaking Bread. Temperatures were 70 and sunny. According to the people STILL lined up in the drive-through of the now defunct Wendy’s, the following might have been served: Fried chickenHomemade mashed potatoesCole slawLemon BarsCookiesIced tea, lemonade…but, no one made an Arnold Palmer There was also a delicious looking set of leftovers from Saturday. Numbers, names, and everyone had a wonderful evening.

YHC’s 2.0s entered the arena and threw down for the title of Iron Chef F3RVA. Llama prepared the side while BB-8 tackled dessert. Here’s what was served: Aged loin of farm raised boar marinaded in a honey bacon glaze, seared and slightly smoky, cooked to 145 degrees internal Diced Idaho potatoes tossed with extra virgin olive oil and shaken with assorted herbs and spices then roasted until slightly charred with a smooth soft interior Vanilla mousse parfait layered with sliced organic bananas and wafers and finished with a light crème fraiche topping and wafer crumbles Signature cocktail was an Arnold…

16 HIM’s & 2.0’s assembled at Rockwood Park for a School of RUCK. The DTH Tacoma was heavy laden with extra rucks, bags, and bricks, and all warriors were loaded down before setting off into the woods. YHC found a couple nice cabers in the woods for the kids to take turns carrying. On our 1.5 mile trek we made it down to the lake and back, and there were a couple brief COP’s for squats and lunges along the way. We even attempted teaching and implementing the GrowRuck exercise of a thee-man team carrying one wounded warrior. It was…

Grid Iron relocated to Lake Anna and had our first of hopefully many more events there. After a brief warm up we hit 4 stations for 3 rounds of 20 of: Dips, Dirkins, Pole Smokers and Steps Ups. BiProduct came by boat with J’ville and WhiteDeer, but for some reason they couldn’t make it out of the boat for the first round…so we did a second round. Then to the beach for a series of Abs, Merkins, and Swimming/Kayaking/Padeling. We kept the Fitness part short this morning and then had coffee and carbs in the parking lot before hitting the…

Welcome to 1000% humidity and the first ever AO where Porch noted a majority of Brown guys – which followed with interesting mumble chatter about preferred Spanish pronunciations and the like. Here’s how we won the day: The THANG: WARMERAMA: Mosey to the basketball court and circle up Welcome & Disclaimer Usual DTH warm-up IC Reps COP # 1: Mosey to the Tennis courts BUDDY LADDER Count down from 10–>1 Booyah Merkins, with partners alternating running the courts perimeter while the other remains for chain smokers COP # 2: Mosey to the playground WHEEL OF DEATH Plank up around the…

Five HIMs came together this morning to do some soul searching and to figure out why we were out here sweating like crazy in what felt like 100 degrees, with grass clippings ending up in places they definitely shouldn’t be. But not a single complaint was heard, and we crushed it. Here’s how it all went down… Warmarama Mosey to back of the park Arm circles Chinooks All the wives and moms SSH Copperhead Squats Grab a Cindy and head to that Bermuda Thang! We tackled a workout inspired by Poolboy’s 100th post. The YHC made a few slight tweaks…

Fun times this morning with the 2.0’s in the sweltering heatSHort COP with some exercises Vball challenge — keep the ball in the airreach the number — no exercisesmiss the challenge number and a member of the pax call out an exercise for all to doWe started with 5 which wasnt too bad.Moved to 7, which we got immediately12 was our bugaboo even though we had already gotten to 17 in our quest for 7I think we ended up doing 6 or 7 rounds of exercise during that challengeOff to UltimateShort field was necessary and welcomed by all.Fun game –…

Only way to be the heat and humidity is getting out there early! Solo Q at Morning Wood for YHC started with rucking the perimeter loop walking track which is now painted brightly green. There’s been a lot going on of late, and the quiet time rucking with Jesus created space for some good mental mumble chatter. Ended up thinking about how I hadn’t run in a while and the green loop track could be a nice distance to set a Base time with my Garmin. Rucked back to the truck and ditched the bag. Garmin set to go. Two…

9 warriors of the gloom descended upon the earliest AO. Some surprised that Bacons Bits was leading the Q and brief discussion on whether this should be a VQ or VQ#2 since its been some time but the clock struck 5 and we were off. Short jaunt over to the end of the lot to pick up Hitch and around the lot to the front of the Church for COP. Appreciated the guidance and chatter to keep me in line during COP, as mentioned its been a minute. COP: various stretches, cherry pickers, side straddle hops, hand release merkins and…
